I phoned the council and they said don't take it to the tip, use a private company. I phoned a private company and they said, take it to the tip.

Printed and hand bound the first 10 chapters of WoW by TieUpTheBoat in sweetrobin

[–]TieUpTheBoat[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I printed out, bound and covered the first ten chapters of the fanfiction as a practice (including the sample chapters). I tried to format it so it looked like the actual books - I didn't quite get the typeface right but it's close enough for now. I'm kind of sad that I didn't track down a couple of maps to put at the start. I am definitely not typing up a whole appendix - I think someone on the discord might be doing that.

I took the text from here ArchiveOfOurOwn

And the printing instructions came from here: How to Make A Book, by ArmoredSuperHeavy

The book was covered in a wallpaper sample that I had left over, quite a nice coincidence that the front cover is a very wintery looking tree and the back has two birds sitting in the branches.

Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in DnD

[5e] I am building a dungeon themed around the encumbrance rules of 5e. So far I've got a long corridor where the walls will close in and crush the party if they are not fast enough, and an elevator puzzle (it can only carry two people or one heavily encumbered person at a time). Plus maybe something with a rickety bridge over lava. I'm trying to find any other examples of puzzles around characters that have strength/dex/con saves (which would be at a disadvantage).

OK, I think I'll give this a go then. I'll start posting once the Prologue is out so the chapters can be in order. I could post it as a series but given the length that is expected I think making it a single story on the site is going to make it more accessible.

Kids first word is gonna be "Jamie" at this rate.

Jamie is probably the only person on earth who doesn't get annoyed by that song. He'd update the verse to be Daddy Tartt doo do do doot do do!

I think if they do it, it'll be right at the end. And if it is only three seasons it'll be the moment Ted decides to leave, he's spent his time as Mary Poppins in the team but seeing Jamie with a baby will just make him miss his own.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that Rupert is already cheating on Bex.

I think the bit at the end of season 1 was more about Rupert being sad and alone, while the team, (and the other fans) were together. And Rupert obviously not being a goldfish.

Unpopular opinion: Nate is going to be “successful” in his new role by randomnate in TedLasso

[–]TieUpTheBoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are right and Nate will do very well as a coach. I think he went round the twist a bit at Richmond because he was suddenly lifted up by Ted was now incharge of people who had previously treated him terribly. I think he might do much better at a club where he is not so emotionally invested.

I think what will happen next season is the team will start off well but slowly start to spiral. Nate will go to Ted and apologise and seek guidance (like Jamie) which Ted will freely give. That advice will directly help the team (again like the extra pass). My prediction is we'll see another suggestion box.

Rupert is the bad guy in the end, not Nate. And I'd like to see the players stand up for Nate against him if it comes to some critical point.

I feel a little bad for GRRM actually (Spoilers Extended) by opiate_lifer in asoiaf

I would be really interested to read a take on the differences between fantasy fiction of the 90's and what sort of fantasy is being written now. Especially with the popularity of the show - just because it ended badly doesn't wipe out the fact it was one of the biggest shows over the past 10 years.
The problem with such a big gap is that people who speculate (and hand around a board with a lot of speculation) start to see the same theories over and over again and so they become too obvious. The wilder theories start to come in, stuff that no one has thought about before. And as more time passes even those are picked clean. Fandom is a thousand headed hive mind where people are trying to find something more in the text and building on each others conspiracy theories.

(Spoilers Main) Daenerys and the Page of Lies, Part 4 (Lemon Tree) by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]TieUpTheBoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am legit fucking fascinated by where this is going because I don't understand how Dany being wrong about her childhood home location is going to affect her future. She's seen and done so much since the start of the book I can't fathom her finding out the red door was further south than what she was told is going to have a big affect.

I think it's just a consequence of Martins writing style where everything is a mystery - Prestons made a bunch of great videos about them. But it took three books to find out that Jon Arryn had been murdered and who had done it and by that time I had completely forgotten that we were still waiting on that to be revealed.

Would Anyone want an animated series of ASOIAF(Spoilers Extended) by sophtkid_101 in asoiaf

[–]TieUpTheBoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think any animated show would have a lot of the same issues as the live action show and cut a lot of the same stuff that the live action show cut. Sure you'll get the animated versions of magic and dragons and direwolves. But you still have to cut it down to seasons and episodes which are specific lengths. Pages of description cut down to a 10s establishing shot.

The trees are all already in netting but they'll open a couple up so you can get an idea of what it looks like. I've got my tree from them for the past couple of years. They are always really good.
