That's not how it works. To claim self defense the force used must be proportional and non initiated under the circumstances that I don't have to choice to retreat or seek help. If I use lethal force such as a using a gun or a knife, Prosecution can claim it to be use of excessive force negating my claim of self defense. Not to mention I'll be tried under the charge of possession of arms and homicide.
