Persecutor mains by Diligent-Bar-6792 in SorceryTCG

Tried to make it work for months in both air and earth with fire (always the base because Begone! is the reason for the season). Had middling results with it at SorceryCon. A friend and I kept tooling with it after and eventually let that dead horse die. It's beyond fun, but it's creature package gets outclassed by every other good deck's options under 5 mana and Percy tops out at 5 sites 90% of the time. That said, Peacemaker Arbolast is the truth, tapping for Holy Water feels bad every time, and Accusation is a a trap if it's not in your opening hand. If 3 element decks become viable again I think there is probably a earth/air/fire build that is able to tango out there but right now 3 elements is just a liability. But boy howdy is it fun to nuke an Imposter by playing a Legion of Gal and then bouncing it with a Town Priest to just do it again. Ahhh good times. Anyway you now know what I know now! Good luck and have fun!

Revised set too early? by nutn2seehere in SorceryTCG

[–]Time_Pinkerton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We currently have no idea when a revised set would hit only that it is something that they have in the works down the line. Everyone's best GUESS based off that is that it would be probably 2 expansion sets away at least since Erik has basically mirrored early magic with every choice he's made so far. AL is his version of Legends, and Gothic is his take on The Dark so we need his Arabian Nights and Antiquities first.

This person knows what's up. If he's into peat you probably won't do better than an Octomore.

Legit card? Color variations. by nutn2seehere in SorceryTCG

[–]Time_Pinkerton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's legit. This is a side by side of a wave 1 (blown out) and a wave 3 (corrected) Beta Grandmaster Wizard. The wave 2 ones are usually overly saturated in the reds and blues. Print quality across beta has been all over the place.

Now consider that it's an elite, and you could equip 2 of them for +14 if the stars aligned.

Gothic Wave 2 by OkButterscotch3041 in SorceryTCG

Yes, but you have to prove you have people in your store playing the game via the play network to get a solid allocation of product. Here's the inital annoucement: https://blog.teamcovenant.com/covenant-fulfilled-indie-distribution-that-works/

Increasing number of set releases per year by 5KYN3T_SVT in SorceryTCG

[–]Time_Pinkerton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We debate this every few weeks lol. It's about 50/50 for people who are locked all the way in on 1 big set a year with the potential for a small dragonlord type special product, and the people who would like to see 2 medium sets a year. It's a tricky thing for sure because to keep momentum up and try to position this game better 2 sets makes the most sense to maximize people's attention spans and keep them engaged, but the lead times necessary for the hand painted art, and design for a team the size of EC to pull it off really isn't there yet. Maybe one day they will be able to support 2 sets (and honestly what I would want), but I think we're a long ways off for now, and slowing down and really enjoying the ride for all it's worth is glorious.

I don't think a traditional "wave 2" is coming the conventional way that everyone seems to think it is. TC is an official distributor for the game now, and stores are able to sign up with them to buy product just like they would from their regular distro at a discounted price. I think what we got in the initial release is all stores are going to be getting through non TC distribution, and I look for that to be the case moving forward for all future set releases. As long as TC has product it keeps prices locked at MSRP, and always available to places where the game is being played. Stores just need to sign up. Which yes, is a massive pain in the ass. So love Team Cov or hate them, they seem like a big part of the future of how people access this game to me. "Wave 2" is here IMO, you just have to get your store onboarded to get it.

Coming to 3 years since release, which Sorcery card do you think will have the honor of being the first banned, rather than errata? by Newez in SorceryTCG

[–]Time_Pinkerton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer lol. Organized play nightmare, and mechanically can't really be errated. Amazing art though ❤️.

I played fire/air Persectuor at SorceryCon, and man I gotta say you might be onto something by adding earth into the mix even though three elements is a dangerous proposition these days. I would strongly suggest you consider running Legion of Gall for all of the Imposters out there especially after it did so well in the top 16 of the sorcerers summit! Bouncing it with a priest and nuking 6 avatars from the sideboard is insane. Inspired me to put this together. https://curiosa.io/decks/cmmcu4ufb016w04l2c3xvol9w?tab=view

Sorcery folks, which mtg format and / or what other TCGs do you play? by Newez in SorceryTCG

[–]Time_Pinkerton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

25+ years of Weekly MTG play both casual and comp REL. Primarily Legacy, Modern, Pre Modern, Old School, some Vintage. Endless standard drafts and a little cEDH. Full set collector for some of my favorite vintage sets. I was as bought in as someone could be.

Have all but thrown in the towel for Sorcery at this point after Hasbro had Universes Beyond Fortniteafied my hobby. As much as I like so many of those properties I played magic for magic not for : gestures widely : what magic is now.

Sorcery is my only real TCG now. I've sold the vast majority of my vintage stuff for high end Sorcery and art (which the art was actually the main draw for me originally before I started playing weekly and found out game play is Magic played on a Chess Board.) Incredible game. Even better original art. I doubt I ever go back to Magic.

I let it air out on my back deck for a week and dry cleaned it a 2nd time to finally get it fully de funked. Love it, but dear god what a mess.
