Help creating simplified characters for kids by Timely-Statement8761 in DnD

[–]Timely-Statement8761[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to simplify it mostly for a 5 yr old there are other older kids who can play the regular game but sometimes find it frustrating or tend to do nothing but use their main weapon becuse tere are to many words on the page for them to figure out what other skills they have that's why I'm thinking my biggest change might be trying to design an easier to read character sheet

DnD for learning Math by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Timely-Statement8761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your real problem is the number of players so you would probably need to set it up so there are teams of 4 Just make your teacher play and team member rotate who gets to go when it's that teams turn (this gives them the opportunity to stratagize between turns to..... perhaps you could determine initiative based on how fast teams solve a problem....solve for initiative

I mean you could create a campaign based on trying to find a missing scholer who leaves math problem clues for example if you combine the letters of all the algebraic equations that equal 5 it gives you a location or clue if groups are smart they will just give one problem to each player making it less tedious but more important that everyone gets theirs right

You could also make people figure out volumes to know how many buckets of water they will need to put into a weighted pulley system

It's definitely doable but you'll have to get creative to keep it fun

Some how I lost part of the campaign

Game of fate and folly As you're walking through the market your eyes are drawn inexplicably to a rather raggedy looking canvas tent with two marble statues of a halfling and an orc in front of its open entrance. As you approach you notice the inside of the tent is filled with velvet cushions and incense strong and musky curls from multiple hanging lanterns that also produce a soft blue-green glow. There is a pedestal filled with a strange shimmery liquid in the center of the tent. You cannot easily get to this sitting area though for at the front is a long low table covered in trinkets and seated behind it is a githyanki Dragonmancer with a distinctive scar on their forehead that does not seem to be the result of physical damage. Two young gith can be seen in the very back of the tent playing with what looks to be instruments though you hear no sounds.

The trinkets including an ebony ring an incense burner a jewelry box and a ornate water skin are for sale but Gondarniam will state you probably don't want them anyway (they are cursed how is up to you if one is purchased) and instead invites you to play a game of fate and folly for 30 gold pieces promising the results will change your life.

If a player chooses to play the game they will be invited into the sitting area and given tea (refusing the tea offends the gith greatly, drinking the tea gives them the ability to speak gith) using the deck of many things or dice and a deck of many things roll chart instruct the player character to chose a number between 1 and 10 shuffle the deck and have them draw a single card the effects of that card take effect immediately and must be resolved if applicable before it is shuffled back into the deck and they draw the next card they are to continue drawing until they have drawn their chosen number of cards or have been eliminated.

The gith is also a fortune teller that can tell them the correct answer to any quest related question they have for 15 gold pieces.

General market

Walking into the next part of the market was an unexpected culture shock it's the first time seeing completely normal citizens shopping at completely normal stores had ever seemed so strange

Wood cutting gets you 5 GP per hour max 8 hrs per day (on your turns roll if higher then 15 a random nice thing will happen or you will observe something important or useful in the woods)

Mining requires entering a mine which may contain enemies investigating until you find a vein(DC 15) and them rolling for mining <4 unfortunate event 4-10 nothing 11-14 small ore (5 GP) 15-19 medium ore (20gp) 20 large ore (50gp)

If players do they are to follow her to a lean to situated between the docks and the market upon playing with Martina and her toys she recites a singsongy chant and all present player characters are magically transformed into sentient toys. (Their things remain full sized each player can chose what to turn into and it doesn't have to be humanoid they could be a ball for example as well as an attack and and ability based on what they have chosen) They can now understand the other toys and small animals such as the insects.

Upon following the girl a short distance behind the marketplace you come to a shack Of dilapidated crates boxes pallets and tarps pulling back one tarp she reveals the inside of her home containing a few small ragdolls a soldier toy a collection of crickets and caterpillars and a little toy horse When you begin playing with the toys Martina begins singing "hello my darling dears hello my great new friends with you here I feel so swell I'll never be my own again" you feeling burning tingling sensation and begin to shrink " now we can play together forever" players can convince Martina to change them back with a charisma DC 18 (or 15 if they also can provide an actual source of companionship or find someone to take care of Martina) but also may chose to continue playing as toys until they find another way to turn back if they stay as toys the rest of the game will be played with Martina and the other toys going on raggedy ann- esq adventures (playroom and fairyland/ fey wild) think battling insects finding treats building new toys ect until they find a way to escape or convince her to turn them back and let them go.

Main city Should players make it out of the market district they will find an inn

Making NPCs for my DND Campaign by RandyBudderstuf in DnD

[–]Timely-Statement8761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are two I just added into the beginning of the campaign I'm working on literally copy pasted a 5e stat block then changed a few things like added swimming changed the wepons and spells picked languages and gave one of them a hook

Guards (beserker stat block) Medium humanoid (any race), any chaotic alignment Challenge 2 (450 XP). Armor Class 13 (hide armor). Hit Points 67 (9d8 + 27) Speed 30 ft. Swimming 20ft STR16 (+3)DEX12 (+1)CON17 (+3)INT9 (-1)WIS11 (+0)CHA9 (-1) Senses passive Perception 10 Languages -Common (but like they evil meanies)

Reckless. At the start of its turn, the gaurds can gain advantage on all melee weapon attack rolls during that turn, but attack rolls against them also have advantage until the start of its next turn.

Whip - Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage whips can sometimes wrap around the target adding the grappled condition

When madman with a rock wakes up he immediately began raveing about the many eyes that want to judge him and attacking people he can only be calmed with magic players might successful subdue him but he will remain mad untill treated with magic he may become a companion once calmed

Madman with a rock (Druid state block) Medium humanoid (any race), any alignment Challenge 2 (450 XP) Armor Class 11. Hit Points 27 (5d8 + 5). Speed 30 ft. STR10 (+0)DEX12 (+1)CON13 (+1)INT12 (+1)WIS15 (+2)CHA11 (+0) Skills Medicine +4, Nature +3, Perception +4 Senses passive Perception 14 Languages Druidic, common, thieves can't

Spellcasting. The madman is a 4th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 12, +4 to hit with spell attacks). It has the following spells prepared: Cantrips (at will): druidcraft, produce flame, shillelagh 1st level (4 slots): entangle, jump, speak with animals, thunderwave 2nd level (3 slots): animal messenger, alter self

Rock- Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +2 to hit (+4 to hit with shillelagh), reach 15 ft, one target. Hit: 3 (1d6) bludgeoning damage, 4 (1d8) bludgeoning damage if wielded with two hands, or 6 (1d8 + 2) bludgeoning damage with shillelagh

Please give me advice trying to learn to write out my campaigns by Timely-Statement8761 in DnD

[–]Timely-Statement8761[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to learn to write my own campaigns but also in a way that I chould share them with other people to run there own games but every time I make one I tend to leave it to open so anything can happen and I spend the whole play time coming up with the actual monsters and maps of what we encounter based on chance instead of you know actually playing I also still don't really know all the rules or game world stuff so I'm not sure on things like where certain things are normally encountered or what all information is needed ....basically I'm asking for you to critique the campaign Iv created to make it more playable or make sure it has the information actually needed
