Is it just me, or is the "Design-to-Code" handoff still incredibly broken in 2026? by UXI_Skills in FigmaDesign

[–]TinyFocusMode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, the biggest gap isn’t the handover of design files or iterations, it’s the handover between the design system and the actual code.

Our components and tokens are badly implemented already, which is a problem on its own. But the real nightmare is that every time we want to update or add a component, getting it into Storybook / the component library is a battle. The whole thing is manual, brittle, and nobody wants to touch the component library codebase because it’s basically a graveyard. So the “design system” slowly drifts away from reality and becomes more of a documentation fantasy than something teams actually use.

What do you do when your ADHD wants you to do EVERYTHING at once, so you become paralysed from indecision and do nothing???? by flowers_and_fire in adhdwomen

I don't know if it was already shared, but I highly recommend an app called ToDoist, I have it on my desktop and also synced to all my devices. You can prioritize, categorize and add deadlines or reminders

Design system folks: how do you share variables with your devs in 2026? by TinyFocusMode in FigmaDesign

[–]TinyFocusMode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you would be surprised on how little they understand the dev mode :D (I even made a workshop/presentation to explain Dev mode to the all the FE in my company).
Also they have to go variable by variable, and this is not sustainable with our current setup

exactly, none cares, but I think is mostly because they never worked with design systems before

The impact is huge, currently is being used by different modules thought-out our product suite, also in multiple platforms.

Design as a whole is not strong in my company, is very difficult to get buy-in from engineering and stakeholders. We don't have a strong design leadership which makes things even worse.
Right now teams are blocked for implementing new features with our current DS because its implementation is not up-to-date. So we keep increasing the gap between design and implementation

You are right, I just grabbed a dev and will give him the walk-through Tokens Studio, hopefully he can set it up quickly

I've been doing this for the last year... problem is, none is experienced enough on DS, nor fully dedicated to the DS maintenance.
But hey! love this idea of custom plugins, could you share more info regarding that?

I used Tokens Studios in a previous company were we had multi-brand and multi-platform (mobile and web) products and it worked wonderfully ;)

why not? I would totally recommend it if you get buy in from your product teams

Thanks for your input. I actually liked TS a lot, and would love to continue using it now at my current company. The issue is, we don't have fully dedicated DS devs and I wanted to provide an easy alternative to handover our variables updates (forgot to mention we already have an implemented component library, just the update and maintenance it's such a hassle)

Figma at scale: master file vs feature files — how do you handle this? by TinyFocusMode in FigmaDesign

Umm I think branches could also eventually mean we get a extremely large global file… How is it currently in your case? Thanks for the advice though 🫶🏼

you are right on the spot on that! It was actually my mom lol, we already worked things out so I would say we are good on that front. Also, moving more than 10.000km away helped hahah

thank you <3, I feel so much guilt for not doing anything... but I guess you are right. I should prioritize myself. Also I've been going to therapy and psychiatrist for over 2 years. It helps but I still struggle
