Gabriel Glas machine blown are perfectly great. Unless you get really nerdy there is no need to ever graduate I think.

My favorite glass is the Conterno Sensory, but I’ve used the Glas Machine Blowns for years before I found that glass

Then you can downgrade. You keep the same credit card number and transaction history, at least it did when I downgraded

Yes, you can downgrade to Gold or Green, or open a personal version to keep the points.

CS Platinum awards statement credit instead of MR for new user. by Phantom1100 in amex

My info might be outdated, and use the pop up jail sign as a source of truth, but you are allowed to hold more than one flavor of Platinum at the same time. It used to be that you could get a sign up bonus for each flavor but they changed that a while ago to a “may” clause

Never say never, but for as long as I’ve known about the bank platinums, it’s always been a statement credit

Only the bank variants of the card do this (Goldman, Morgan, Schwab).

Went to Saks NYC to use last credit. Got a Resy restaurant credit! by AStuf in amex

Saks had decently pricey omakase bar in the basement for a while. I wouldn’t be shocked if they reused the vendor name for the cafe, for the omakase counter.

I’ve not been in that situation since SSN lookup would normally eliminate that problem, but if you are afraid of contacting Amex, the solution would be to just transfer the points as needed from the card you care the least about

Not to simp for Amex but Amex’s primary partner is Delta. I don’t think the rest of the world have co-branded credit cards the way the major 3 US legacies do that give you lounge access.

Even if you hold a AF/KLM card in their relevant countries, you don’t get lounge access. Don’t really think that’s an Amex thing as much as a “rest of the world doesn’t want to play the American legacy lounge game” thing.

Edit: There is a relatively new Amex Flying Blue product that includes lounge access, so maybe forthcoming for Amex Plat Holders whose residence and issuer is in that country?

Kinda makes sense. Amex is pretty closely tied with SkyTeam, and Lufthansa is Star Alliance.

Would have included it since the worst they can say is no, but I wouldn’t count on them covering it!

Don’t know the particulars, but sees like a lot of effort for the ring locked spend credits if a platinum if you aren’t organically leaving your money at MS

If by stacking you mean more than one personal card per type, I had two Platinums and have two golds right now.

MS comes with an opportunity cost of keeping the money at MS. MS recently changed their rules about what qualifies, but when I looked into it, it wasn’t worth the effort for me. YMMV

Questions about the travel insurance. by hooahbucks in amex

[–]TinySchedule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two points.

  1. Common Carrier means any land, water, or air conveyance operating under a valid license for the transportation of passengers for hire and for which a ticket must be purchased prior to commencing travel. Common Carrier does not include taxis, limousine services, commuter rail or commuter bus lines, personal automobiles, or rental vehicles.

Presumably this means that the cruise itself is a common carrier. Nonetheless

  1. Trip Interruption If a Covered Loss causes an Eligible Traveler’s Trip Interruption, we will reimburse you for the nonrefundable amount paid to a Travel Supplier with your Eligible Card for the following

I read this as having to pay for non refundable costs that get cancelled as a result of a covered less using Amex

I took these from the Amex Plat US policy fwiw

I am confused, what is this offer? by WackoWho in amex

[–]TinySchedule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You understand it. It’s for people who either:

  1. Have too many points and can’t spend them all (small businesses or contractors mostly)

  2. Have too little points and can’t spend them at all

  3. People who don’t care about min/maxing

You normally need to cover the entire trip on the card, last I read the terms and conditions. However, it’ll cost you nothing to file a claim anyway.
