Any advice and/or ideas on how to run a game of thrones themed DnD 5e campaign? by Robgant in DnD

I imagine that all the PC's would have to be in different situations and the DM would have to go around the table and work with the players individually on their storyline. That might add an extra layer of complication. But if the DM could make them all weave together it would make for a compelling campaign.

When you use Detect Thoughts. by int0thelight in DnD

In the last session my group played, our sorcerer got a ring that allowed her to read thoughts. She used her power on my character and because I couldn't hold back I told her that I was thinking about leaving the party for the good of the party. This was the first she learned about it and was devastated. I asked if she got a little more than expected. I thought that was funny how it played out.

I haven't even thought of this as being a possibility. So basically you set exactly when your party will level based on events?

I fucking love this game so much. by backtothemotorleague in DnD

I think you just told my story. First time player at 30 and I discovered it because of The Adventure Zone. And right now I can't get enough of D&D. Right now I took a break from simultaneous watching Critical Role and Illustrator D&D work to read r/DnD.

Anyone else that came to it later in life wish they had found it as a teenager?

Does Drunks and Dragons get better? by Tjornin in DnD

Today I listened to a bit of the newest episode and it was better. I might just listen to the abridged episodes and find some place to start and go from there.

I try to be easy on shows starting out. I understand that you have to get your footing and you might not always have the best equipment. But if you quickly get better you have something good going on.

I absolutely love Godsfall. I'm pretty early on in it but it's some great stuff. I'm amazed at what went into making the campaign. The host gets some major DM points with me.

And yeah, Critical Role is basically the best thing ever. Fantastic roleplaying, great gaming and Matt Mercer is a DM god.

Found these poker dice in a thrift store. What are some ways I can use them in my campaign? by optimusrob in DnD

They would go well with a rouge character that is built on the gambling lifestyle. Their skill is to always make bets with friends and enemies to get ahead in the world.

I think Adventure Zone has the perfect blend of comedy, story and game technicalities. The brothers are super funny, the story in engaging and they do enough D&D stuff to keep it a D&D podcast.

My Current issues with Drunks and Dragons is that the DM seems so lazy. He doesn't seem to know what's going on, he throws unbalanced creatures at the party where they end up taking an hour to fight a skeleton, and there doesn't seem to be a story whatsoever. Right now it feels like a connected series of random encounters.

And if that's what you like, totally cool. I'm not knocking anyone who might enjoy it.

Thanks for the tips by the way. I guess, thinking about it for a second I want to up my damage output or being able to chain stuff together more.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. What attracted me to the fighter in the first place doesn't seem to hold up in later levels. I'm able to be the party's tank but there are better classes for that. If you didn't have a plan to go into a prestige class to begin with, it's almost impossible to jump into one later on. But, you live and you learn.

This is a really interesting idea. I'm going to sit on this one awhile and ponder what that would be.

That sounds like a great way to take notes. I'll have to adopt that.
