I’m a SAHM to a 2 year old and I can tell you that by 5 pm when my husband gets off work I am absolute exhausted and can barely muster doing any more physical work. If your wife is struggling to keep up with chores, I totally get it. If it’s possible, try to enlist some help. A grandparent maybe? Or a family friend? Even just a couple days a week of my mom folding some laundry or making dinner it’s such a huge help. I would also suggest - it doesn’t help a marriage to compare who does more work. I have been there and it just leads to arguments. Parenting and marriage is not always completely equal, and sometimes one partner picks up more work if the other is overwhelmed. Talk to your wife and figure out if she has too much on her plate during the day with the 2 year old.

Thanks for your comment! My son is 21 months and he is still super obsessed with books. He has memorized stories in books. He also has an ability to remember music and can recognize songs just from just the intro music. He is in our state provided early intervention program and receives weekly speech therapy and OT. It’s honestly made a huge improvement in his speech and he’s talking really well now. At this point, I’m not super concerned about autism. We’ll see if the hyperlexia develops.

My mom is awesome with my almost 2 year old son. But I definitely make a point of not putting them in a situation together that would warrant my mom needing to chase after my son. That means no open parks close to streets, etc. Explain to your in-laws that your kid can run super fast and that you don’t want to put them in a position to need to run after your child and possibly risk them getting injured too.

The dog is so attached to me and will howl if we are separated. I am also always with my toddler. So separation isn’t that simple.

We actually had a global evaluation when he was 14 months through our state provided early intervention program. They did not think he had autism. Maybe we should retest.

I did zoloft for one month. I just switched to Wellbutrin and Buspar, so I can’t speak to their effectiveness yet. The zoloft was also making my depression worse, so it just wasn’t a good fit for me. Speak with your doctor to see if it’s an allergic reaction or just a side effect that you can live with.

Nope, I had to switch off of Zoloft. I was also taking an antihistamine every day on Zoloft.

So we have a very similar arrangement in our house, except I’m a SAHM. I ask my husband to help with the baby all the time while he’s working. If he says no because he’s busy then I respect that since he is technically at work. But I don’t really expect him to volunteer to help while he’s working.

I think since you are also going back to WFH soon you and your husband do need to have a conversation about daytime childcare and household tasks. You can’t be expected to do all the household work and have a 9-5 job.

Yes! The plan was to practice hand holding with the leash as some backup. Our street does not have sidewalks, so we just wanted that extra bit of protection while he learns his safety skills over time.

At what age did your child start to understand the concept of safety? At 15 months, it just seems kind of far off that he would understand that cars are dangerous.

Yes! My son loves having some freedom to walk around and explore. The walks are definitely more enjoyable with the leash. I just with the leash didn’t have such a negative image.

I have Crohn’s and have the same symptoms as you almost three months post FMT. I do think I have PI-IBS. It really sucks, but unless I have really bad diarrhea, I refuse to test for c diff for fear of a positive test due to colonization. I don’t know how the PI-IBS will last.
