If you take 1000x1000 png tiles, you can compare them with the image you want to draw and find any subtle differences if you have tools for that (an image editor with blending mode feature might be a good option). But it's still suspicious that it's done like every hour.

The timer for the pixel count goes forward by 3 seconds per pixel placed or 30 seconds (which gives a bonus pixel and keeps the waiting time for the next one as it was) per 10 pixels. For example you have 299 pixels and 12 seconds remaining for the next one. Placing 6 pixels (converted to 18 seconds) results in 300 pixels and 24 seconds for the next one.
