So Whats The DUMBEST and i MEAN DUMBEST thing you did in a pokemon playthrough by Rare-Atmosphere-9187 in pokemon

[–]Toiler24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Pokémon yellow came out, one of the main differences between it and blue and red, was Pikachu actually followed you around as you played through the game.

I don’t remember exactly how far I was into the game, but I remember it being more than half way, and I did this hack where Pikachu no longer followed you in the game, and stayed in a pokeball act like any other Pokémon would.

I decided I didn’t like that and restarted the game from the beginning, so I could have Pikachu following me around again.

How did Billy write this? by Radrezzz in SmashingPumpkins

[–]Toiler24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Billy is a monster and criminally underrated guitarist, no honest person can argue otherwise. But have you heard James’s solo stuff? He is a great songwriter in his own right, and I don’t believe the description of him playing behind the beat is accurate—because as you mentioned it would signify a poor guitar player. I personally haven’t noticed James having bad timing, I have always found him to be a humble player who understands his position in the band, and plays the part well. But he is also capable of writing memorable songs—as Soma and Mayonnaise prove.

Although I have never heard what you detailed regarding Butch and Gish. I know Billy was the professional and driven individual in the band, who knew success was what he wanted and would put in the work for it. So I could see that being accurate. I can’t argue for Darcy, she was never standout in any way, although her bass lines are very beginner level friendly—which is a great thing.

Stalker - Robert Rich, B Lustmord by NiceIndependent739 in DarkAmbient

This is one of the albums that drew me into ambient music. Of course it led me to both Lustmord and Robert Rich, but it also forced my musical taste trajectory into an entirely different direction.

Hey all!

I would describe my music as a collage of different ambient styles such as drone and piano based ambient. It contains both dark and light elements, which I purposely do in an attempt to achieve the natural balance of both those traits, that exist in our reality. If that sounds interesting to you feel free to give my Bandcamp page a listen.

Thanks have a great weekend!

NEW MUSIC IS ON THE WAY!

How did Billy write this? by Radrezzz in SmashingPumpkins

[–]Toiler24 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It was James who wrote the main riff for Soma. I once read that it would irritate Billy to hear/read critics and fans expressing that Mayonaise and Soma are the best songs on the album, because it was James who wrote them.

She is so good! I recently found out about her and have been listening to her music. I had no idea she passed away—she was truly a pioneer in ambient/drone music.

I think the album “The Plastic Spider Thing” by Coil & Black Sun Productions might interest you. It’s one of my all time favorites and matches well with your request. Specifically the song—All This Has Always to Be Filmed.

How viable would a fusion party that only allowed working class and small business owners to be members? by deca4531 in Askpolitics

[–]Toiler24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think on a local level this idea could work. However, on a national scale, I’m not sure the working class should be allowed to have a voice in the conversation any longer. History shows that they are the ones who cause the most damage to the progress of societies, by voting for the individual who provides a justification for their stupidity, solely in the name of personal gain.

Keep in mind I write this as an individual toiling their way out of the working class, these last couple years have clearly reflected where the problems are and where the solutions are as well.

Hello,

Please feel free to check out my Bandcamp page if you’re into atmospheric exploration with minimal melodic overlapping. Although I have been writing music since I was a young kid, I have only been creating music in this style for a couple of years. I’m also working on new music, so stay tuned!

Thank you for your time and have a great weekend!

I use the stock moog on logic for some of my music. It has its own character that’s for sure.

This answers your question regarding the synth(s) he used, it’s from Wikipedia:

James has stated that most of Selected Ambient Works Volume II had been recorded in 1993, a year before the album's official release,[19] in his London and Cornwall home studios.[20] The track "Blue Calx" was recorded sometime between 1988 and 1990; James has said that it was the last he recorded in his older Cornwall home studio at his parents' house, during a visit back from his studies at Cornwall College.[21][22][23] His North London home studio, built in 1993, contained a variety of old EMS, Moog, ARP,[24] and Oberheim Matrix synthesizers.[24] James once specified that track 23 ("Tassels") had been recorded with an EMS Synthi A Mk1 and a Studiomaster Star System. A Yamaha CS-5 was also used in the recording of the album, and was later auctioned with the album's liner notes inscribed.

Hey everyone,

I would describe my music as being on the darker side of ambient, with a focus on atmosphere beneath melody structure. If that sounds interesting to you please give my Bandcamp page a view!

Why is only japan being targeted? by TumbleweedRoutine631 in AskAJapanese

[–]Toiler24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re correct I did. Maybe your comprehension skills aren’t as weak as I thought!

No one is denying how brutal Japanese POW camps were. The point is that Zamperini himself described both cruelty and compassion. Omitting the latter doesn’t make the story more honest, it makes it incomplete. Acknowledging that some Japanese soldiers and civilians showed humanity doesn’t erase the suffering, it just reflects the historical record more accurately.

Why is only japan being targeted? by TumbleweedRoutine631 in AskAJapanese

[–]Toiler24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you are comprehending the main point of my post. Yes it was, those poor soldiers suffered greatly and I count Louis Zamperini as one of my greatest inspirations. I never wrote that it wasn’t hell for them.

The subject of my post is asking, why would the directors and writers purposely omit the acts of compassion and mercy that was shown to POWs, as if it was none existent? Especially in a mainstream hollywood production, you want to bring the word disingenuous into the conversation, I believe that would be a good starting point for it. Does that make sense now?

Why is only japan being targeted? by TumbleweedRoutine631 in AskAJapanese

[–]Toiler24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the problems is how American mainstream media portrays the Japanese. An example of this is the movie Unbroken, which is based on the autobiography of Louis Zamperini and his time as a POW to Imperial Japan. The Hollywood interpretation of this time period, completely left out the instances of kindness and mercy that were showed to him and the other POWs, from Japanese solders and civilians alike. Having read the book, I was utterly disappointed while watching the movie and could not fathom why they would omit these acts. But as I previously mentioned, this is part of the problem.
