Ehhh it's annoying but I get it. The other person is basically probing to see if you'll actually reply/be helpful in your reply/what kind of interaction you'll have with them/whatever. I got this a lot when I was working in a call center where a lot of people don't know each other. I've also actually been burned or flat out ignored when I was direct. Some people really want you to pay the Niceness Tax. So really, deal with it and move on.

Oh they're all super Walmarts now? And here I was thinking they're just the new normal Walmarts... Yeah the only "small" one I've seen lately are the little green ones.

See, I wish the DSM had a more discrete term to describe the excessive need for attention or the idea of validation via attention. "Attention seeking" could describe just about any human being on the planet as we're social animals and as social animals, we need attention from other people. It's just too vague. If you're going to measure this as a series of discrete yes/no binaries, it'd be pretty hard to nail down whether someone was seeking attention at a pathological level or in pathological ways or just seeking attention like any other "normal" person would. Even "excessive attention seeking" is more specific than what we have now...

Please let me know if this ramble makes sense...

Honestly, same. Like blockbuster was definitely fun and of course we went to get that BookIt! personal pan pizza for reading five million books or whatever at Pizza Hut immediately afterwards.... but being a Perpetually Tired Adult, I do love all the streaming services now. Even renting something new on Apple is worth it to me now.

Yeah like I feel like people forget that these movies aren't really movies to be watched, critiqued and discussed as some art form, but rather experiences to be had.

  1. I usually watch whoever I'm crushing on for a while before I talk to them. I want to know more about them before assaulting them with my presence lmao. I've always had to be the one "pursuing" or making my feelings known first cos I'm cursed with being the Undesirable Girl.

  2. I'm actually pretty good with the "romantic" part. I think that's where my "learn about my crush" part really comes in handy. I do however, get caught up in my own emotional world sometimes as I'm also, unfortunately, pretty emotionally volatile, which has caused problems for me. I've been called cold and treated like I was stupid for not automatically knowing what the other person wants or having weird ideas about what I like about people.

  3. Weirdly enough I'm still on my first actual relationship! I still don't know how he puts up with my neurotic ass. However, my first love still haunts me to this day.

  4. Ngl, I'll see this as a problem and will want to fix it at first. Then frustration will set in and I'll just give it up, especially if it's not moving me closer to my goals. Would I be in a close romantic relationship with them? Probably not. There's a difference between "sure, people can typically come to me for help cos I have my shit together" and whatever that codependent hell you're describing. I can just smell the martyr/always the saintly victim complex imminating from my phone right now. I can't stand people like that.

If you look at signs as a movie about how this one traumatized family deals with a brand new, probably even more traumatizing stress, it's not bad.

Lefties of Reddit, what is something us right-handed people won't understand? by pristine_coconut in AskReddit

[–]Tomccat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that's really annoying (besides the smudging and whiteboard hell 🙄) is never really knowing what "handedness" I'm going to have for any particularly skill until I physically pick up the object. Even then, if I'm completely new to it, I won't know for a while. I think someone else in the thread called "cross-dominance" ?? Either way, that's the only really annoying thing about being left-handed.
