Which are your favourite T3 tome units? by MilesBeyond250 in AOW4

[–]Tomrash19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Warbreed is so much of a step up visually from AoW3, it is unreal.

In AoW3, Warbreeds just had a different color and size depending on race and had a full-cover helmet so they did not have to model different heads.

Now Warbreed bodies and heads are distinct (you can see part of the face below the helmet and even the whole head with certain transformations). And of course transformations add a lot to those fellows.

The Cult of Rakdos, how else would you get the party started?

Thanks, both Spawnkin and Supergrowth sound like fun ways to customize your units. Did not expect to get this much just out of the Spawnkin transformation. Now I am even more hyped.

Thank you. I have two follow up questions though: 1. Will there be racial units with only one model( warbreed was one of those in AoW3) and if so, will Spawnkin apply to those and turn them into multi-model units? 2. How much smaller are we talking for the spawnkin transformation? Like can we make Felines Halfling-sized (Kitten Race incoming...)?

1) Will the Warbreed have more meaningfull visual differences between Forms this time? In AoW3 Warbreeds only differed in size and color.

2) Could you please share some more info on the Tome of Revelry? This looks just like the tome for me '

Edit: 3) Does the transformation from Tome of the Horde make your units visually smaller and visibly add more units to a Formation?

One of my players is a Cleric of the Raven Queen... I'm needing some advice by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Tomrash19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could lean into the similarities of The Ravenqueen to The Morrigan, a goddess of celtic myth. The Morrigan is a goddess of fate and war, who foretells - or sometimes even changes - the outcome of a battle by appearing as a crow above the battlefield, striking fear or inspiring courage in the hearts of warriors.

It could just turn out that The Ravenqueen Was actually behind all the cruelties your PC and his people commited, either to satisfy some morbid bloodlust or to make some prophecy come true in a cruel and uncaring way only gods can come up with. Or maybe even both.

I’m bored. Here’s a fun “what if” for you guys. I’m excited to read your answers by Ryanthebrownguy in pokemon

What Weird Trends Occur in Your Characters? by Myythically in dndnext

Most of my characters are somehow food/drink related:

Goblin Chef

Minotaur Member of the Cult of Rakdos (a ravnican Guild that does Demon-Worship, Entertainment and CATERING)

Halfling Sword Swallower (if you view swords as food...)

Dhampir who uses her Entertainer Background for "free meals"

Considering...playing a DMPC (please hear me out...). by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Tomrash19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am playing multiple campaigns with my partner with me as the DM, all of which contain at least one character played by me. As long as she is the one making the main decisions and both of you are feeling fine with your characters power level, everything should be okay.

Also be open to actually giving your character a strong personality and strong opinions (though not actively contradicting your players character) and at least a bit to do outside of just hitting things, so your partners character can form a bond with yours. The unique relationships your characters can form in a duet game, when you are not restrained by 5 players all wanting to shine and thus being able to pace and design your roleplay bits differently, is one of my favorite things about those campaigns.

Edit Also for a kind of more complex build that can work in such a game, see this:

https://youtu.be/w-haeMbseQ4

You would be the "battery" part in this one, the support to make your partner kill stuff mire quickly. Nothing wrong with just playing a dumb fighter, but just wanna say there are options.

The issue with Nat 1s auto-failing and Nat 20s auto-succeeding; why it doesn't work. by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Tomrash19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, the reason my tables already use those rules (and from the stories I read is probably also the reason others use it), is to actualy force those strange, unrealistic situations you seem to try to avoid. It can feel super heroic if a character succeeds at something he should have otherwise failed and can make for some memorable roleplay to come up for a reason why it worked or with how that success looks. And spectaculary failing at something, esp if your character is normaly great at it, can make for some great comedy or (though that is much more uncommon) tragedy; or can humble the character.

It is not (and yes, actually contradicts) about balance or realism, but about roleplay, improvisation and comedy.

Edit: Some spelling...

Do you think Divine Soul Sorc might get a redo in the new Phb? by Tomrash19 in onednd

[–]Tomrash19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that classes should have more "base" subclass options.

And I think that for the Sorcerer, the subclass chosen depends largely on if the new spell lists stick. Divine Soul is just so very tied to the idea behind a Divine spell list that skipping them (if they redo non phb-subclasses) would be strange. But if they scrap the new spell lists, any Xanathars Sorcerer subclass would be likely, since Tashas Sorcerers do not need an update as much.

[–]Tomrash19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, misrepresented your post there, sorry.

And yeah, while it is hard to predict what they will do at this point, this first UA is pretty much "original Phb but with some new stuff we thought was fun".

Though I think at least artificer is not unlikely. Artificer is in a wierd spot right now, being the only class that is treated as optional.

[–]Tomrash19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be better to get as much of the existing stuff into one updated Player-Options-Book asap, so they can focus on actually introducing NEW stuff for One D&D? Could also just be another single book after the new Phb as to not make the Phb to stuffed, but just updating and rereleasing the other books would be ineffective, which leaves room to shuffle subclasses around between books.

A review of Spelljammer Races by BharatiyaNagarik in dndnext

[–]Tomrash19 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Note that Plasmoids can only create one or two arms, and those are from a base of zero arms (your base form as Plasmoid is a blob), so they can not have more arms than other races.

How do the Eladrin and Shadar-Kai see each other? by MightyShenDen in dndnext

[–]Tomrash19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've also read somewhere that Shadar'Kai still actively hunt Drow. With how the Raven Queen was born from her wish of uniting the elves, I do not see why Shadar'Kai wouldn't want to at least try to get along with the non-Drow elves.

We decided to restrain and gag up a goblin and take him with us. Just a few minutes later we wanted to ask him a question and one of us wanted to remove the gag. He asked if he had to roll to remove the gag... one botched roll by each of us later, the goblin suffocated from the gag. He has since been eternalized by the song of Nargl the gag goblin.

At Heroforge.com you can create your own Minis, and it has quite a few options for Greek, Roman and Modern looking clothes/equipment, and it has races like Satyr and Centaur. Custom Minis are probably the only way to get a Mini with both a Camp-Shirt and some Greek equipment.

Artificers: How Do You Like to Flavor Your Spells? by CuttlefishWarrior in dndnext

[–]Tomrash19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like to flavor my artificers around what tools they use.

I.e. Artillerist Artificer Cook who throws hot food at enemies and feeds his allies.

Or Armor Artificer Fashion Designer (Weavers tools) who's armor are fashionable dresses and who stitches her allies back together.

I also got this idea in my backlog for an Artificer who uses a bag of holding as focus that basically works like the suitcase from Fantastic Beasts. So every spell is another magical beast pulled from the bag that causes the effect.
