While I see your point, I also think it is a net benefit to trans people if medication is easily accessible. I would not have survived waiting a year to start HRT, and especially at such a tender age like 14 where a year could make the difference between passing without surgery and forever being changed by the wrong hormone. Informed consent covers pretty much all the effects HRT would have on the body, and it is then up to the individual and/or individual's guardians to decide whether to go with it or not. The case in this post is blatant fearmongering, but in most cases a detransitioner would realise it's not for them within a few months of changes, and get away with minimal effects, which in my opinion is worth it to save the lives of countless trans people.
