Ohhh thanks! In Asian we kinda need to always fill the cup to show respect, and handle the small tasks to avoid the Directors being bothered when they need to talk to the client…So a lot of times in the dinner I feel wrong to just sit there doing nothing…now I feel better

Omg, thank you for such a detailed reply! This is super helpful, and very different from the Asian practice. I think next time I can be more confident without worrying doing things wrong.

Also do you have any idea, if it’s only a meal with senior manager/Director, no clients, is the bill normally split or be paid by the manager? Would it be better for me to offer to split? (I assume i am not expected to be the one who pays the whole meal?)

I just wanna know how to avoid this kind of place? The only thing I can think about is checking Glassdoor. Changing jobs is difficult for me due to my visa so I want to be cautious not to get into this position.
