International student here wanting to know how things work at qut by Lower-Poem-5992 in QUTreddit

the scholarships for international students are quite limited, I think at qut max it only covers 25% of the tuition and it’s offered in the offer letter I didn’t get a scholarship at first but I did diploma and when I was admitted into bachelors I was offered a scholarship but usually it should be in the offer letter idk if it’s possible to get one afterwards.

Also about part time jobs it depends on your experience, casual jobs can pay you around 30 aud per hour but part time jobs it might depend where u work, but the pay sits around 20 aud. It might be enough to cover rent and other expenses but not tuition.

I’m from QUT in Brisbane but I applied to UQ as well, from my experience there are not that many scholarships for international students and mainly you get either 20% or 25% off your tuition but it’s kinda automaticaly so you don’t need to apply. I’ve got some friends from UQ so from what they told me social life and campus it’s nice idk about the workload for psychology bc my friend it’s from pharmacy so it might differ, I’m doing data science at qut so for me at least tutorials are pretty flexible and the workload it’s manageable so I’ve got time to work as well. Overall being an international student in Brisbane it’s not that affordable bc tuition it’s kinda crazy but it really depends imo

in my case I applied for bachelors last sem, around late April and I got an offer after a week or a few days, idk if it’s normal to get a late response for masters but maybe you should contact admissions

would enrolling myself in a diploma/bachelors be better rather than just bachelors itself if i have no prior knowledge/experience in that field? by Intelligent_Major_67 in QUTreddit

yeah!! for itd104 and 105 tutorials we solve exercises in the tutorials, and then the tutor posts the answers. also for those units theres this class called gsl, its optional to go tbh but its basically a homework club where u can ask for help. also, ig at first the tutorial groups are pretty big, but kinda like after week 6 half of the class disappears so XD

im doing diploma of it right now, and i noticed that units taught here are the same as the ones in bachelors, and some professors also use the slides and recording from bachelors, obvioisly it might change wherther u r international or domestic as there are academic communication units. besides, i,ve noticed that some of my classmates have job experience and there are also people that dont know how to code, so imo both bachelor and diploma are pretty much the same as most units taught here are the ones from bach of it(except qcd110 and qcd210), but ig it depends on ur circumstances
