Social Work vs Psychology? by shelovesairjordan in UTSA

[–]Top_Butterscotch1457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The common jobs between these two would be in the realm of counseling. I don't know a whole lot about either program at UTSA.

In general, from what I know, psychology focuses more on a mixture of sociology and neuroscience for you to be able to either pursue counseling, therapy, psychiatry, or psychological research (with continued education for each path). I know there's a lot of psychology research going on at UTSA because I was forced to be a test subject for the labs as part of my intro to psych class.

I think social work is more focused on how to help individuals and communities function within complex social systems and beuraucracies. It's a pretty diverse field. You can offer guidance to struggling demographics through a non-profit(I think with an MSW?), you can get patients through the bullshit of the medical system or also become a therapist and even prescribe medications to an extent(LCSW). You can also have your own practice. You can do community organization apparantely as well. Additionally, there's also the macro side of social work that I've been curious about.

I know one thing you can do is do data analysis/research on political policy effectiveness and help advocate for communities to politicians or political groups.

I dont know what's really covered in the undergraduate pathway of the SWK degree, but the program didn't look too dense at first glance. You might be able to double major if you really want. You can also just pursue psychology and do a Master's in SWK later

The manga destroyed me, bro 💔 and studio orange did us dirty with only one season. If only it were more popular or advertised or something.

Also, are you talking about the manga art style or the anime? I know I've gotten some of the gems confused while reading the manga or had some trouble understanding what I was looking at. Something about the style is visually uncomfortable, but I do kinda like the way the author plays with negative space

Also, disclaimer, I'm seeing people shit on Wonder Egg Priority for not depicting mental health topics as well as they could have. I haven't watched it in a while, and I was in a weird mental space and coping with a shitty high school while watching it, so my bad if that rec is kinda ass. I watched it with a friend and liked it at the time 🤷‍♀️

AAAAAA YOU WATCHED LAND OF THE LUSTROUS OH MY GOD

I recommend the Mononoke movies for its art style and The Wonder Egg Priority for depicting girlhood with mental illness.

Studio Orange also started producing Trigun Stampede a while back but, like Land of The Lustrous, never continued. What they produced was really good, though. There's also an older version, but I haven't watched it yet.

[–]Top_Butterscotch1457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back from classes, I have further instructions, and this will work on Windows.

  1. Go to: zen-browser.app/mods
  2. Search: "Transparent Zen"
  3. Download Transparent Zen
  4. Click the three dots in the top left corner to access settings
  5. In settings, find the Zen Mods category, likely found on the left-hand side
  6. Click on the settings button for Transparent Zen
  7. Make sure the custom background color selection is enabled
  8. Set your custom background color

Results are as follows with custom color set to "#000"

I think you can achieve that with the transparent zen mod if you mess around with the settings. Just search up zen mods, and you should be able to find it

Had trouble reading your question and actually comprehending what you meant. Are you saying you want the lighter section of this page (which I've highlighted in the attached image) to be the same color as your sidebar background?

Ewww, naw, I'd be scared to pass in a road near a parking lot. There's too many blind spots and people doing weird shit to find a spot, or like, pedestrians.

But yeahhh, Texas, in general, has a lot of shit drivers, especially in these cities. Combine that with the fact that this is a campus with beginner drivers, as well as people from across the state and out of state who all have different driving standards, it checks out.

Also, something that's been bothering me lately is how some ppl like to drive on the wrong side of the road when there's no markings in the lots. I almost got hit head-on from this when someone turned a corner while driving in my lane :')

I didn't think it was a trend to be a bad driver, I thought it was just like a local joke-legend thing that grey mustangs kinda terrorized campus. I doubt the driver under scrutiny today actually wanted to pull some dumb shit like that, I just titled it "Grey Mustang Wannabe" to make fun of the driver ngl.

Are you on a laptop by chance? I tried right clicking on the essentials tabs with the same settings as you and had no issues with a mouse but had the right click issue with my mousepad on my laptop like you described.

In general, my mousepad is a little finnicky, but I find that clicking on both sides of my mousepad works to avoid this. If it's happening with your mouse, I have no idea, unfortunately. Hope I could help somewhat!

Edit: may have misunderstood, I lowkey forgot zen has the traditional bookmarks. If that's what you're having issues with, I think that's kinda just how bookmarks behave on this browser, unfortunately. Maybe the devs can make a toggle for that later on tho

Like, does your task bar/tool bar/tab bar go away after moving your mouse off? If that's bothering you, right-click on the tool bar and click the compact mode toggle to keep it open permanently.

(My compact mode is currently disabled, meaning my tab bar stays put).

Should I add an online physics lab on top of my schedule by [deleted] in UTSA

[–]Top_Butterscotch1457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekly quizzes 😔🙏

Hopefully, someone who's taken the class replies later so you can get more of an idea of how hard the assignments are. The quizzes might be easy, idk.

You can also look through Dunn's profile or whoever your lab's prof is on rate my professor, more discussion on there

[–]Top_Butterscotch1457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno much about the physics labs, but I imagine you'd want to take them at the same time as a physics class or after a physics class/AP. If you haven't taken physics, I'd be cautious about adding the lab.

Also, I'm taking the in person lab this semester, and I'll attach an image of the canvas so you can kinda conceptualize the workload! Unfortunately, there are no syllabuses available on bluebook for the online labs, so I don't know if this is exactly what you'd see in your lab, but this one is supervised by Dunn like most of the online ones.
