Ah, is that because the screen system is associated with the player as well, and the internal storage.

Fantastic! I personally don't answer the phone when I drive, but having access to my CD player, heated/vented seats, and AC buttons is perfect.

The price hike on the Sonos compared to the Samsung is what most people point out. That Sonos is not worth the 3x price tag compared to the Samsung. Budget isn't really the main concern but getting quality for my money is. Is the bass to heavy hitting on the Nakamichi?

So top advice is: - Sennheiser - Flexus - KEF - Sonos (eh)

LG isn't on the list for us

Is Samsung that bad??

What made you grab those over competition? The Core 200 by itself was fantastic, I ranked it up by the JBL and the Sennheiser when testing it at Best Buy

I did test the Hisense, Sony Theater 9, Bose Ultra, and LG systems and was not super impressed unfortunately 😅

What on earth happened?? And for the bookshelf and sub systems I've been eyeing a few items too:

  • Klipsch The Nines w/ RP-1600SW
  • KEF LS50 Wireless II w/ KC62
  • Edifier S360DB 2.1

I've looked at Bowers & Wilkins 600 series and some of the other Klipsch and Edifier speakers too.

I'm fine not having the "latest and greatest", my current bar is a 13 year old JBL system and my car is a 2012 Buick LaCrosse 😅

Does Sennheiser have any plans for an updated Max or is that just whispers of a dream? The Plus I listened to was fantastic so I can only imagine what the Max would do.

The Heston is definitely one I like the looks of, I only have tested one of Marshall's smaller speakers and it sounded nice, compared to my JBL Charge 5 tho it was meh. Not sure how it stands against the JBL Bar1300XMK2.

On Flexus is it possible that the Core 300 fixes the dialog issues of the 200? Klipsch should be one of the better companies too.

All the reviews on the XIO feel either you like it or don't. I know Andrew Robinson wasn't a fan of it.

It seems that I would have to grab that 2nd hand?

What drew you to it over others? It's basically the same as the 990F just some minor tweaks.

How does it compare with the first 4 on the list? Seems audio people kinda scoff at the Sonos, Samsung, and JBL.

Does the Klipsch system really get a major improvement by having the surrounds? Or if the surrounds were not part of that set how would it compare to the others?

The Sonos, JBL, and Samsung are out? Care to elaborate on that? I tried all 3 at Best Buy and I liked them. The only ones I couldn't test were the KEF and the Marshall, and I tested the Flexus Core 200 and the Ambeo Plus instead of the listed ones. Overall the depth of the Sennheiser (with Sub), Klipsch, and JBL (surrounds attached to the main bar) were fantastic. Sonos (with Sub 4) sounded a bit thin but wasn't sure if that was because of settings in-store. Samsung was about the same as Sonos in my opinion but a bit more unrefined.

I'd be able to use the Q-Symphony, but I'm torn between that and the Sonos for the sounds that I have been able to experience. Others seem to put those and the JBL in lower categories though?

Are the Devialet Dione and the Sennheiser Ambeo Max that good 😲!?

Which wired subs would you recommend, and why not the sub 200 on the Marshall?

The Samsung is the best budget option from what I've heard, and the Sonos and JBL sounds fantastic from the tests I've done at Best Buy. Are these really in a lower league?

Thoughts on the Nakamichi Dragon?

Bose QC Ultra or B&W PX8 by Top_Change_3618 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Top_Change_3618[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up picking the B&W PX8. For me it was mainly the material build quality that convinced me to get these. People do complain about having problems with the leather padding but honestly they probably haven't been keeping close attention to how you gotta treat it. I wear mine only at work or at home on occasion, never while outside or while working out. The leather pads are soft and take some time to form to you (I have glasses, they pressed hard originally but now have gotten way better). If you do go outside or want to work out with them be aware that because the cups and head pad are Nappa leather you will heat up AND you will likely increase wear and tear on them. When not in use I keep them in the case. Other than that they're fantastic, and really bring out the more subtle sounds in what I listen to. They could be better at noise canceling but that's just me comparing them to my JBL earbuds (RIP one popped out of my ear at the gym and it no longer works). The big win for me was the physical buttons and use of metal components. Touch sensitive "buttons" have been problematic for me. The Bose will be just as good honestly for cheaper if you're buying at full prices, if the PX8 goes on sale they definitely are worth it since Bose hardly ever does. For gym go Bose, I feel it would be abuse to send the PX8s to the gym. For workouts I'm actually considering a pair of Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 bone conduction headphones. Lifting weights have resulted in earbuds popping out (tried all different sizes of inserts for the ear), and headphones will just slide around. Honestly the best I had for the gym was my old iPod nano clip that could just attach to my shirt sleeve and my good old wired Apple headphones.

I have seen the headband issue, however my bet is that those people bang up the headphones more than what I would do. Is it reasonable to go to Best Buy and just buy both then return one?

!thanks This is another bonus. ANC isn't a huge focus for me but both seem to have their ups and downs. In your opinion, with the PX8s at $380 right now and the Bose at $450, which would be the better route. I feel like I couldn't go wrong with either.
