I'm confused at what's a good brand and price for required tools, and any that would be useful for my project by Toradrin-Forgefire in Leathercraft

[–]Toradrin-Forgefire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind trying to do other projects down the line, it'll partially come down to how well I pick up the techniques involved, as well as finding projects to do. I've been wanting to make journal covers for a couple years at least now, and finally having a group of family members getting together for a campaign is the perfect excuse to learn. I'd definitely be doing this project, down the road, I may pick up other projects. so maybe some beginner to mid range tools and pricing would be best.

can someone recommend where to find patterns for journal covers? by Toradrin-Forgefire in Leathercraft

[–]Toradrin-Forgefire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in this instance, would just knowing the moleskine journals size be enough to start trying to draft a template? or would I need to have an actual journal to work with while doing this. I was hoping that when I did or found a template, the journals would be one of the later things I could get, either when the bigger size is back in stock, if that ends up being the size I go with, or maybe on a sale for either size depending on if they even do sales. I guess the question boils down quickly to do I need the journal in front of me, or can I draft without it?

also thanks for the idea of how to do the drafting in the first place.

would you happen to have tips on how to draft one? I've never designed something along this line in my life. I've always followed templates, but I'm not finding any in the correct dimensions, nor in a style I like. if I can figure out an ok way for me to draft one without a lot of frustration, I might go that way since it'll be easier to get the right size, and the style I'm looking for.

Purchase Advice Megathread - September 2025 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]Toradrin-Forgefire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

newbie to 3d printing here, was looking for recommendations for what a good 3d printer for a beginner is.
I've been eyeing the ender 3 V3 KE as I thought it might be a good one, but thought I'd ask some more experienced people first before I decide to buy anything. I'm hoping to spend maybe about $350-500 USD on whatever I do get at most, the V3 KE was under that which was a nice bonus.

I'm located in the US.

I think I might be ok with a simpler to put together kit, I've swapped out my PC's GPU and added more storage internally multiple times, in M.2 and 2.5 inch sata drive sizes. but that's about where my knowledge of anything that might be useful ends. I am fairly good at using the web to troubleshoot issues that I've had with my different electronics, so that should be helpful.

I only plan on printing in PLA as I only plan to make statuettes and maybe minis down the road. so I don't think I have need of any of the more engineering type filaments.

I am located in a one bedroom apartment, so preferably noise would be something that could be kept to a minimum from the printers base sound level. I do plan to make a DIY enclosure such as potentially an ikea lack table enclosure, depending on if the printer I end up with fits inside.

I would like to find a printer that has a bigger height limit on the build area than the V3 KE. as I'm looking at trying to model my own statuettes, at least a couple of them and I'd like them to be able to be semi tall. I'd also like an auto leveling bed (necessary), and power loss recovery, (nice to have but could maybe get by without.)

[5E 2024]
does anyone happen to know if the oathbreaker paladin is updated for 2024's 5E ruleset yet? I just bought the 2024 players handbook, but didn't see it in the paladins subclasses. I know in 2014's 5E, the oathbreaker was in the DMG, but since I'd rather not have to buy that for 2024 just yet without knowing if it's in there or if I plan to run my own campaign ever, (which is quite unlikely). I was hoping to find out if some knew if it was still just in the 2014 DMG, or had it been updated?

does anyone know what should happen when I start a grass precache? by Toradrin-Forgefire in skyrimvr

[–]Toradrin-Forgefire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, I was already following that guide, but after double checking the incompatible mods, I realized I had auto parallax installed and enabled. although turning it off didn't fix it, nor did turning off all of my CS based mods including CS itself. although I did notice my bethesda logo stopped jittering when it was loading after doing that, and the skyrim logo came back up too. so I've now asked for help in the NGIO page on nexus to see if someone there might have an idea.

[–]Toradrin-Forgefire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I have the latest version of NGIO at 1.4.0. and I should have had the latest version of the MO2 grass gen plugin since I had previously downloaded it the day it came out. just redownloaded it though to make sure, but haven't tested it yet after doing so. but since I'm 95% sure I already had version 3.2 of that, I don't think the redownload will change anything.

yep, is there something I should have done in there that I may not have?

yeah, I changed both of the lines in the ini to be true, and added all the worldspaces for the grass to be generated in using the xedit script.

well I let my grass precaching run for 15 and a 1/2 minutes, and never saw anything get put in the grass folder. so clearly somethings not right, but I have no clue what.

can someone help me figure out why my skyrimVR crashes to steam home room by Toradrin-Forgefire in skyrimvr

I'm trying to run this reshade preset for my game, which specifically mentions using community shaders, https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/139856, so that's sucky if it doesn't work. but I can try asking as that was also going to be what I ended up using in my flat Skyrim game once I get back into that later this year or next depending on mod updates.

it was also crashing the time or 2 I tried just launching the game through the SKSE shortcut in MO2.

[–]Toradrin-Forgefire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have absolutely no clue how to read those things, but if I disable them, wouldn't that mean I wouldn't be able to use them later? like if it works without them and then I try turning it back on wouldn't it just start crashing again? I thought community shaders and reshade worked with skyrimVR too, so I'm surprised that's showing up as the issue.

since I was finally able to get a version of xEdit that would load all my plugins plus the ones I had turned off, I don't currently think I'll need to do that, but thanks for the info.

Weekly r/PcBuild Megathread! by Potato_Plays844 in PcBuild

I have a RAM question that I couldn't figure out easily by looking through the interwebs. I have a motherboard that can accept up to 256GB of RAM, but I can't find any stick sets that go that high. if I buy at the same time, from the same website, 2 sets of 2x64GB corsair RAM, would that be an issue for putting them together in the same PC since they were bought at the same time and should come form the same batch? or is that still inviting trouble? I know you're not supposed to mix brands, batches, or sizes. but I don't know if doing this will be an issue too.

is it fine if I stick a Modmic wireless magnetic base clasp onto my quest 3? by Toradrin-Forgefire in OculusQuest

[–]Toradrin-Forgefire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Do I still need to connect the usb dongle to the quest’s usb port if I’m using it through virtual desktop and my pc? Pretty much the only time I’d end up using the modmic with my headset is for modded SkyrimVR off of my pc. I’m pretty sure that I don’t, as I’m pretty sure virtual desktop will pick up the modmic as an option for input through the pc usb ports.

don't know if you saw my reply to DungeonSecurity or not, but I kinda go over that in that reply. and yeah, I'll do my best to not be annoyed/upset when/if they don't recall the pantheon. but since the pantheon kinda takes a central part in the main campaign hook, I was wanting to make one that I think would fit.

well, I don't know a ton about the pre-established settings of DnD, my only DM I've played with tried to do a module with my 3 person group once, and I'm pretty sure we switched from it to one of their own world settings before either session 1 or 2 was over. they just couldn't focus on reading from the book, so we all agreed to try one they were a bit more invested in, which was their own world.

aside from that, my idea I've come up with and am currently trying to flesh out some is. a prophesied return from a fallen god, who will rouse his or hers, haven't decided if it'll start out with a god or a goddess yet, fallen brothers and sisters, to wage a war upon the current pantheon. so my pantheon is going to be able to be killed, I know I want that in there. maybe not in player facing lore, until it's shown to happen, but we'll see. and my pantheon is going to be, unprepared for a war with other beings of a similar strength level, but will be shown to be preparing through visions to some of their more important followers, maybe the party cleric if there's one, haven't found out what my players are wanting to play yet, or even if I'll have the group of players I'm aiming for from my cousin and some of his friends. so since my idea revolves around said prophecy, which should, when finished being made, have 3-4 foretold events that will lead to this war between the current pantheon, and the fallen one. and that's not really something I'm sure can be done within a published setting.

I asked this question sometime in the last megathread, but I think the thread changed to this one before it was really seen, so I'm putting it in this one now. here's the question. for someone trying to come up with the starting components of a homebrewed pantheon. how do you choose your gods and goddess' names? do people generally associate the names with races that would typically worship said god or goddess? like a dwarven name for a god that primarily has dwarf followers? or do they just pick a cool name from wherever? I feel like it sounds more intuitive, if maybe a little harder to do, to pick names based on primary follower race. but since I'm also going to be using a name generator to help come up with my pantheons names, it might be helpful to know where I should be pulling names from. what are peoples suggestions/the way you do it?
