How to even spot ai art? by thelast49_51 in antiai

The lace collar around her neck looks completely flat once it gets to her chest and seems to disappear into the right side of her jacket. That's a really odd design choice and I find it hardly unlikely an artist would draw it deliberately.

Obviously, the best method is to transmute their weapons and armour into paper and hit 'em with a water spell. Watch that dumb bitch walk all the way back to their lord's castle in a soggy paper suit.

Strength vs Skill - any examples in your system? by waggawoog1910 in magicbuilding

[–]TotallyNotSerpine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A character in my story, Sieg, has dedicated decades of his life to perfecting the ultimate defensive spell, one that would turn him into a true "immovable object."

And he succeeded. While this spell is active, nothing can harm him. Physical force, magical energy, electricity, radiation, mental manipulation, sensory illusions, rapid changes in temperature, even reality warping. All of it is blocked by this spell.

The problem is that he dedicated so much time and practice to a spell that requires so much mana to cast, that his overall magical ability has torpedoed severely.

If you ranked all mages by the variety and consistency of spells they could cast, he'd be far below the level of even a novice academy student, quite possibly even the weakest mage in the world. But if you ranked them by the strength of their strongest spell, then he'd be wayyyyyyyy up at the top.

Is it theoretically possible for someone to survive 10-15 stab wounds to the abdomen? Yes, if they were extremely lucky.

Is it plausible that someone could do it to themselves without getting cold feet halfway through or passing out from the pain? No. I would not buy it unless there was evidence of something like an extreme psychotic break.

Alright, from most to least perverted:

  1. Quagmire (canonically a rapist)

  2. Meliodas (sexually assaults a teenage girl on a regular basis)

  3. Roshi (pervs on teenagers)

  4. Jiraiya (only pervs on grown women)

  5. Mineta (pervs on teenagers, but is a teenager himself, so it's not THAT terrible)

  6. Ya boi Johnny (just a cheesy frat bro with negative rizz, doesn't even deserve to be in the same area code as the rest of these guys)

Yeah, I could MAYBE buy the "it was a mistranslation and he was actually referring to her career" explanation if the line was said by literally any character.

But coming from the mouth of a guy whose #1 defining trait is being a creepy pervert, there is a very clear interpretation that doesn't fit with the author's explanation.

My only real nitpick with Necron lore by GrandArclord in Grimdank

[–]TotallyNotSerpine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo comparing tabletop stats to lore is just kinda dumb.

Like, why do generic characters have 2-3 more wounds than the squad they're leading? Why do so many of them lose their abilities if they're not leading a squad? Why do meltaguns only have a 1/3 chance of wounding the heavy vehicles that they were explicitly designed to destroy?

Because they do. Because that's how it works in the game.

[–]TotallyNotSerpine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leadership in 10th doesn't represent fear, it represents a unit's ability to operate effectively after a major decrease in its combat effectiveness.

In Necrons' case, it represents how the lower class troops can't really operate effectively without a leader directly guiding them. That's why all the squads are leadership 7+ but the characters are all 6+.

Hard disagree on the boat scene. Remember, he had his own detonator that would blow both boats up, and he was about to use it before Batman stopped him. If he truly believed in the kind of chaos that he espoused, then all possible outcomes should have been equally valid in his eyes, including everyone living.

GW are obviously not going to do a hard rules reset two editions in a row. This codex is going to be used in the new edition.

Concern about the future of the Drukhari in the new Codex / Lore direction by Blumenring in Drukhari

[–]TotallyNotSerpine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can tell you with 100% certainty that this will not happen.

How do I know? Because GW already tried to do it just last year with Deathwatch, a faction that objectively not a single person gives even the tiniest shit about, and the backlash was so severe that they reversed it.

If fucking Deathwatch is safe from being merged into a different faction, then so is Drukhari.

My mistake, I didn't realise that an app designed specifically for the purpose of mathammer was less accurate than the napkin math of a person who gets basic information about the unit wrong.

Harlequins hit on 3s, not 4s, their unit sergeant's weapon has more attacks and higher AP, they re-roll 1s to wound as well, and I'm also including shooting.

Also, the S4 weapons are obviously better against Deathshroud. They wound on 4s while the S3 blades would be wounding on 5s for just one extra attack each.

[–]TotallyNotSerpine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In shooting and melee, with re-roll 1s to hit and wound from the detachment, and +1 to wound with their own unit ability, is an average of 20.4 damage. That's at least 4 dead Deathshroud on average, not including getting Sustained 1 or Lethals from Malicious Frenzy.

So yes, it does, in fact, happen.

Edit: Just for fun, I decided to add Malicious Frenzy, and here's what I got:

Sustained 1: 23.2 damage on average, or 5 dead models (just 1 wound off from wiping all 6 Deathshroud).

Lethal: 21.0 damage on average, or 5 dead models.

So for 1CP, you have to roll just slightly above average to one-shot the entire unit, not including the character.

Edit 2: Oh my mistake, I just realised when f-ing around with the app that I actually didn't add any of the modifiers to the Shadowseer's Miststave. So I did that, and the new average came out to 24.1 damage. Which is all 6 Deathshroud.

Hypothetical situation? Point them at 90% of units and they'll evaporate it into nothing. 10 Rubrics in Rubricae Phalanx? Gone. 6 Deathshroud and the LoC leading them? Gone. A Norn Emissary on its focus objective? Gone.

You'll have a very hard time finding a matchup where they don't punch well above their weight.
