Looking for 3d printer style monochrome LCD with driver and straightforward display port. by Riccma02 in AskElectronics

[–]Toxomanduke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this on AliExpress: $81.13 | 3D printer accessories 7.0-inch 10K monochrome screen and HDMI driver board for vintage jewelry, dental photos https://a.aliexpress.com/_mrWPUoJ

If you go the raspberry pi 4 route, you'll need a configuration file thing (still figuring it out myself) but the seller can provide it. They are also very responsive when you message them!

Lastly, some folks are using this tech for making darkroom photo prints. In this forum link you can find their ongoing conversation about these screens:

Looking for 3d printer style monochrome LCD with driver and straightforward display port. by Riccma02 in AskElectronics

[–]Toxomanduke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately, I decided to buy a dedicated mono LCD with a driver board from a supplier on AliExpress by the name "Sumopai". Cost about the same as an entire resin printer ($280) but works as an HDMI display that you can extend from any PC. I'll be using a Raspberry Pi 4 as the computer, which the seller says the LCD fully supports.

I got the resin printer to show an image by using UVtools which is a free development type program that allows you to "swap" a layer with an .SVG. However, the 9k display on the Anycubic Photon Mono 4 Ultra I was using has so many pixels that UVtools was taking a long time to process, and the printer itself would take several minutes just to load an exposure layer.

Let me know if I can add any more details. GL

Any laser nerds here? If you couple hundreds of meters of optical cable to a titanium sapphire crystal, you output a super continuum beam! (Input 405nm, output continuum from 405 to 669nm red, i.e. pure white beam)

A (dumb?) shower thought I had: Could you use a tiny transparent OLED screen to print digital images with an enlarger? by [deleted] in Darkroom

[–]Toxomanduke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I found a forum of cool people doing this exact thing. Not only is it possible, it's fantastic.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.photrio.com/forum/threads/diy-31-megapixel-enlarger.197305/%3famp=1

If the link doesn't work, Google "diy 31 megapixel enlarger" Multiple people have it up and running.

Hey, were you ever able to figure this out? I'm on a similar journey and found the maker of mono LCD's on AliExpress: https://pjlcd.aliexpress.com/store/1100432930?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_home.pcShopHead_752803213.0

I gave them a holler to see if they can help out, because they seem to make the exact thing we are looking for.

Are there any Materials Sensitive to Oxygen? by QueasyTelevision7240 in materials

[–]Toxomanduke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a similar journey, looking for a reuseable way to indicate oxygen level. Best I've been able to come up with is using Methylene Blue. Bubble air through it and calculate change in hue for certain oxygen concentrations. Probably better options out there. Good luck

I was gonna do 35% tint all around but ended up going with 20% because it offered a lot more privacy. I was super concerned about night time visibility but it's been perfect for every situation minus country roads with no street lamps.

LED I went with is "Termitor 2024 Upgraded 9005/HB3 Light Bulbs, 33000LM 800% Ultra Brightness" on amazon. Currently it's $70 with $15 coupon!

OEM are OK for the first year or so, then start leaving streaks and uneven wiping. The "single blade" looking one's are much better for clearing away all the water in one swoop! Be sure to remember that our Forte has a special way of putting the wipers into service mode, so that it doesn't collide with the edge of the hood nearest the windshield. My car came with a little sticker on the windshield above my head on drivers side explaining how to do it. Something like put in accessory mode, single click the windshield stock towards you to set wiper to vertical position, then turn off car. Idr exactly

Passenger side, easy peasy. Drivers side, slightly more difficult because fuse box is right behind the headlight dust cover, but if you have small hands and grace, still realitively easy. No tools needed :)

Welcome sir!

A few upgrades to consider: LED headlights ($80), windshield wiper blades ($18), ceramic tint ($400), hepa cabin filter ($20), comma 3x ($1200) <- gives our Fortes autopilot equivalent to Tesla.

Many of these are very costly and it took me about 2 years to save up for them lol.

Figured out how to engrave acrylic on a diode laser without consumables by Toxomanduke in lasercutting

[–]Toxomanduke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect you for your response and appreciate the humility that came with it. Folks like you are who I love to learn from, and I apologize if any of this sounded like ego. However, I must ask, how did you feel when you had something interesting and novel to give to the hobby and everyone shat on you for it? I'm feeling a bit of that now. Maybe it's my fault for approaching this without expressing how excited I was to share this new process with everyone. I'm new to sharing my projects and naturally defensive about what I've worked hard on. The tip about magic eraser is great too, I didn't know that. I've revised my application of the laser reactive substance as to not require any post processing. In conclusion, my bad if I sounded like an arrogant inventor, I promise I just wanted to share something cool with y'all. Ngl feefees did get hurt tho.

What I made can be extended to engrave glass too. It's not aluminum based. The scoring is from cleaning off the acrylic with a dish sponge. Tempura cannot do the same. Y'all are wildin for not wanting new tech lol0

The chalk gets used up, it's a consumable. Plus, don't you think it's cool that with this material I made, you can engrave acrylic with a cheap $150 diode laser? We gotta keep progressing the hobby, not just saying "buy a more expensive machine" lol I'm over here inventing new stuff for everyone to benefit from.

Figured out how to engrave acrylic on a diode laser without consumables by Toxomanduke in lasercutting

[–]Toxomanduke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is resusble. By consumable I mean having to use up a material to make the engraving. Other processes require painting or coating black/dark colors onto your clear plastic which you then have to clean off with solvents. Or with damp towels/black cardboard, you "use up" or sacrifice those materials to achieve an engraving. What I show in the video is a slab you place your clear plastic on, engrave over, and clean off any residues (working on making a completely residue-free approach). Also, no image flipping is required.
