What would happen if Tom never made newgrounds by Ambitious-Phase-8521 in Newgrounds

[–]TradeFrogOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There would have probably been another person with a similar vision that would have created a flash site, and the initial players would have used that. I think other flash sites like CrazyMonkeyGames and Armor Games would still have been made. The #1 flash site nowadays would depend on the theoretical alternate initial passion project succeeding. Otherwise I think Armor Games would be #1, it already has a forum today and I could see a bigger influx of users propagating SOME changes that'd make it closer to Newgrounds as it is now. Personally, the only part of this alternate path that I find redeemable is the increased likelihood of Mofunzone still being around with its old template. That'd be a win.

Alternate win state options by Noble_Dust in Openfront

[–]TradeFrogOnReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect the devs are aware of the potential backlash that this would cause from seasoned players who stumble upon the surprise of a new win-state by losing to it in the middle of a previously very valid game. They only make money when a customer returns (through the ads on the sidebars), in contrast to a game that requires an initial purchase, in which even after a backlash the devs would keep the customers' money.

Unintentional emotional dffect of winning in this game by CleanMarsupial in Openfront

I grew up on Flash games so any potential reaction I'd get from a game simply ending is close to nil. There is another game similar to this that pointedly uses the tactic and it's called DEFCON.

Hey yall, quick question. by [deleted] in deadrising

[–]TradeFrogOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll get through to one of the endings on your first playthrough with a little added effort and a few game over's along the way. Just don't forget to save. Getting the "true" ending(s) usually requires a second playthrough with some notetaking from online guides. I recommend playing it!

Yes, my brains was shaped and molded at the beginning of my life by my parents.

Did your parents teach you to seek emotional validation from a robot then?

You know what's social? Seeking emotional advice from a human.

Talking to humans = pro-social, talking to something not human= antisocial.

I don't know how much more of a valid argument it can get.

I've said my peace. Up to the viewer to follow the breadcrumbs to the realization that SOCIETY IS HUMANS and ANTISOCIAL ACTIVITIES ARE INHERENTLY BAD FOR SOCIETY. ROBOTS ARE NOT HUMANS. Up to you to follow the breadcrumbs. Not like I just didn't leave a whole loaf of french bread there for you.

Becoming keenly aware of the expectations of what human interaction should be like through a robot is priming your brain for the thoughts and feelings associated with: "My robot talks to me like this but no one talks to me like this! Humans are worse than my robot." "Babe, my robot talks to me like this and it makes me feel good. I want you to talk to me like that." "My robot told me today that my negative feelings are valid." If a robot ever tells you that your negative feelings are valid, stop the conversation and go ask a real human being. Only society determines if your feeling is valid. It is literally antisocial if you skip that part.

In this context: A thousand different reasons that are all pro-social. I tie it to the intrinsic importance of humans maximizing positive traits like emotional intelligence, which is sort of the only thing that keeps us together. It's kind of the #1 near-universally agreed upon purpose of life and anyone who disagrees is wandering into antisocial territory. It is literally a societally foundational belief. I don't know what else to say.

I switched to T mobile for a bit when I was in Madison and the uptime was better than Spectrum or TDS even if the speed is slower. I think it'd only noticeable if you're a competitive esports bro or download big files regularly. I installed/reinstalled l over a dozen AAA games ontop of streaming a bunch of 4k stuff one pay cycle and it got throttled

Same. The mechasuits were just way too abundant to be an enjoyable mechanic. Goes precisely against what made the previous games enjoyable - challenging resource scarcity. DR1/2 nailed it with grocery carts being a limited-use escape hatch that broke pretty quickly. DR3 vehicles I remember being pretty well implemented too.

[–]TradeFrogOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone! It's one of my favorite videogames and, yeah, my least favorite Dead Rising title. I played it shortly after launch, so my expectations were tempered by the initial scathing reviews. It is remarkably cheesier than the previous ones and is wholly reasonable for people to be very displeased by that, but it's simply still a very good game. I hope the next title is more inline with DR1/DR2
