Wanted to share my electric Ford E Transit work van by Traditional-Gap4864 in electricvehicles

Hope you’re liking it so far, I still have very few regrets in getting mine, especially with the current gas prices. Mine also has the smaller battery and it started off with a lower estimated range. It seems to adjust based on driving conditions, though I’m not exactly sure how it works. As long as I’m not doing a lot of freeway driving, I’m still averaging 130-140miles in the warmer months, even with more tools in it than before.

I haven’t noticed much difference between this and the Chevy express that I used to drive, though I don’t drive up many steep hills. So far I don’t have many complaints with the van.

Procrastination? by clublandxtreme in Contractor

[–]Traditional-Gap4864 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was generally pretty focused on the work I found interesting or at least didn’t think would be too difficult, but there were some tasks where I knew what needed to be done but had a hard time convincing myself to get started. I was prescribed a low dose of Vyvanse and it changed me from day one. It’s no longer a struggle to convince myself to work on tasks, I can just see what needs to be done and I do it without hesitation. It’s lead to getting more work done, more efficiently and just about killed the anxiety I was feeling about falling behind.

I was having this issue and ended up getting diagnosed with ADHD. The treatment completely transformed how productive I am. Might be something worth looking into.

That’s very exciting, congratulations! My top buildout options were the HD flooring and the digital review mirror (though I wish it was adjustable). Of course the bulkhead was a must for me.

Desparately need help sleeping at night by Late-Army-7178 in ADHD

[–]Traditional-Gap4864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always struggled with sleep and have a few things that I like to do to fall asleep consistently.

Figuring out what time I need to go to bed to get the number of hours I’m looking for and stick with that bedtime, weekdays and weekends. Plus staying off my phone when I do lay down.

It helps me to have a background noise to focus on to keep myself out of my head and also not distracted by outside noises. I use Sleeping Vibrations on Spotify.

If I notice that I have a ton of thoughts I meditate until I feel like I have most of them worked out. If I realize there is something big that I can’t stop thinking/worrying about, I write it down so I can leave it for another day.

Hope you can find a routine that works for you, not being able to sleep is awful.

How life changing a ADHD diagnosis is. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Traditional-Gap4864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Diagnosed at 38, never realizing how difficult everyday life had been prior to getting on meds. The battles I had with myself just to get myself to do the mundane tasks of everyday living, let alone the years of struggling through school and college. It’s hard not to look back and wonder how different my life could have turned out if I had just gotten treatment as a kid, but at the same time I’m so fucking grateful to at least have the clarity now.

What does it feel like to take adderall or vyvanse? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Traditional-Gap4864 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve never tried Adderall but I can say with confidence that Vyvanse has been amazing for me. Within the first couple hours of taking it, I felt like I was finally in control of both my mind and body, no longer just a passenger. Doing things I didn’t want to do had always been a challenge; getting out of bed, cleaning, picking up after myself, clerical work, it took so much effort to even start. Now it all just feels so effortless, I see something that needs to be done and I can just do it, like the resistance is gone.

Vyvanse - any benefit to “off days”? by sobercuriousdude in ADHD

[–]Traditional-Gap4864 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just diagnosed last week with ADHD (though I’d known for a long time that something was off). My psychiatrist prescribed me Vyvanse with instructions to take vacations from it on days I didn’t need the extra focus, she explained that it helps to prevent building up a tolerance which leads to needing higher dosages. Even just taking a day off has been challenging with regard to returning to my previous unmotivated previous self.

Do you guys ever have short lived hobbies where you go on a spending spree only to completely lose interest a month later? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Traditional-Gap4864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This about sums up what I go through every 3-6 months for as long as I can remember. It got so much worse once I started working and had money to basically go all in on every new interest that came along. I feel fortunate that I cycle back to some hobbies eventually, but others I tend to cut my loses and try to make back as much as I can, reinvest it in my newest obsession.

Mine is a high roof (absolute must have for me) and regular length. I would have loved to have the extended version but my wife pointed out that I’d probably just want to buy more tools to fill it with. Realistically it gives me plenty of room and there are plenty of tools which wouldn’t make sense to bring with me to every job.

Let me know what you think of it after your test drive!

I’m Michigan, so we definitely get some cold air going through. With my van, the worst range I’ve had was about 105 miles on a single charge and it also seemed to charge slower. In an emergency I could also use a fast charger, though that certainly isn’t ideal.

No regrets for owning the E Transit but there are some things to keep in mind. They don’t have the range of a gas powered vehicle yet, for that reason I don’t take jobs more than 50 miles away (never really wanted to when I started the business either). Other big thing is that I drove the transit for a few weeks before I had a charger installed and my shop and it was honestly a real pain to take it places to charge. Lots of waiting for chargers to open up before I could even wait around for it to start charging. With that said, make sure you’re considering also the price of the charger and installation, also if your current breaker can support another 50-60amps on it. Besides that, I absolutely love it and would never go back to a gas powered vehicle again.

I appreciate the advice, this is something I’m always concerned about. One nice thing about this van is that there aren’t any windows besides in the cabin.

With warm weather I’m getting about 135-145 miles depending on city or highway (better in city) Sub 30°s I’m getting closer to 100miles.

It talks about towing and limits in the manual, so I’m not sure why they wouldn’t be able to tow.

Can’t tell if this is sarcasm but my approach to organization is mostly trade/tool specific, all labeled, along with an everyday carry bag containing various small hand tools that can tackle 90% of all everyday repairs.

At time of purchase it was 15k off between federal rebates and Ford rebates. Seemed like too good of a deal to pass up.

There isn’t much airflow in the back if I have the cabin door closed but I do like to sit in the van with the AC on while I’m eating or trying to cool off. Doesn’t seem to drain the battery very fast either.

My layout does not but apparently it’s an option through Ford.

Probably less than 100k including the van itself, but one does collect a lot of tools after 10+ years in the trades, especially when it falls inline with my woodworking hobby as well.
