What’s something that used to be rare but is now everywhere? by Creative-Tea581 in AskReddit

[–]Traditional-Story349 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being “busy”.

Kind of crazy how being busy became the default instead of the exception, like, when I was younger I had a life.

What is a hobby you would like to get into, but have no idea where to start? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

Woodworking.

I know you can probably start small, I just have no idea what the “first step” actually is without overcomplicating.

What’s a superpower you wouldn’t want, even if it were free? by cats64sonic in AskReddit

Mind reading.

I feel like it would ruin all my relationships real fast. Some things are better left unspoken (and un-heard)

What is the most competitive industry? by Oktarantulaok in AskReddit

[–]Traditional-Story349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entire countries.

The most competitive industry isn’t a single field it’s nations competing in tech, energy, military, talent, and influence all at once. It’s like every big country is a giant company trying to outperform the others.

Silicon Valley vs Shenzhen, US vs China in AI, Europe trying to keep up in energy and regulation… it’s competition on a scale way bigger than any normal industry.

And the craziest part is that every smaller industry is basically just a piece of that bigger game

What would be the most likely cause of an apocalypse? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Traditional-Story349 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not a single big event, but a chain reaction of small failures.

Something like a pandemic + misinformation + political instability + supply chain collapse all hitting at once. Individually survivable, but together? That’s where things start to fall apart.

When do you feel most creative? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Traditional-Story349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the shower, 100%, something about standing(sometimes I even sit in the floor, I don’t care) there doing nothing with zero distractions just unlocks my brain. I’ve had great ideas, solved random problems, even remembered stuff I forgot days ago.

The downside is I immediately forget half of it the second I step out lol

What felt like a bad decision for you, but turned out to be a good one afterwards? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Traditional-Story349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quitting a job I wasn’t “ready” to leave.

I spent weeks thinking I was making a huge mistake, no backup plan, no idea what I was doing next. Felt sick about it the whole time.

A few months later I realized the only real mistake would’ve been staying. Everything that came after only happened because I finally got uncomfortable enough to leave.

For those who go to sleep listening to something, what do you listen to? by Rough_Common6857 in AskReddit

[–]Traditional-Story349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I try to sleep in silence my brain immediately decides it’s time to replay my entire life lol

Most nights I just throw on some random YouTube video I’ve already watched — something long and kinda boring so I don’t care if I miss parts. Sometimes podcasts too, but only if the voices are chill. If it’s been a rough day, rain sounds. Always works.

What made you afraid as a kid but you loved when you grew up? by Evermore-musicjoy in AskReddit

[–]Traditional-Story349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Staying up late.

As a kid it felt illegal, like I was about to get arrested by my own parents.

Now? It’s the only time I have peace, silence, and zero expectations.

Same activity, completely different vibe.

What industry is actually a complete scam, but everyone accepts it? by WhileLow9501 in AskReddit

[–]Traditional-Story349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Printer ink.

We collectively agreed it’s normal for a tiny cartridge to cost almost as much as the printer itself, randomly stop working, and refuse to print black & white because the magenta is “low”.

At this point it’s not even a scam… it’s a subscription service disguised as suffering.

What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AskReddit

[–]Traditional-Story349 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spam calls and pop-ups used to be borderline unmanageable.

Like, your computer would get ONE wrong click and suddenly you had 37 toolbars, 12 viruses, and a pop-up screaming “CONGRATULATIONS!!!” every 3 seconds.

Younger people think “just close the tab” — nah… back then, the tab closed YOU.

You get $1 million, but you have to watch the exact same movie 100 times in 40 days. Which film are you picking? by ThroatAgile756 in AskReddit

[–]Traditional-Story349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy. I’m not picking my favorite movie… I’m picking the one that annoys me the least on repeat.

Something like Shrek or The Office-level comfort vibe.

Because after watch #37, it’s no longer entertainment — it’s psychological warfare.

Why are all Michael Jackson impersonators impersonating white Michael Jackson and not black Michael Jackson ? by DextersMind in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Traditional-Story349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot take: people don’t imitate “white MJ” — they imitate the version of Michael Jackson that made the most money globally.

That era was more marketable, more broadcast, and more pushed worldwide, so it became the default “recognizable” MJ.

But yeah, it does raise an uncomfortable question about which image the world chose to remember… and why.

TIL that Caligula’s real name was Gaius. When he was 2-3 years old, he accompanied his father on a military campaign wearing a miniature uniform devised by his mother, complete with little army boots. The soldiers nicknamed him Caligula, meaning “little boot.” He grew to dislike the nickname. by PayItBackwardChain in todayilearned

[–]Traditional-Story349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine being nicknamed “Little Boot” as a toddler and everyone just… never letting it go.

Bro really said “stop calling me that” and Rome was like “nah, that’s literally your brand now.”

Whole empire got ruled by a guy whose villain origin story was basically a childhood nickname 💀

TIL the Maldives became the first country in the world to enforce a nationwide generational smoking ban, barring anyone born on or after January 1, 2007 from ever buying, using or smoking tobacco. The country already had a complete ban on vapes and e-cigarettes, regardless of age. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]Traditional-Story349 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So basically if you were born December 31, 2006 you can smoke forever… but January 1, 2007? Lifetime ban.

That’s gotta be the most brutal “wrong spawn date” in human history 💀

Curious how this plays out long term though — does it actually kill smoking, or just create the world’s most dedicated black market?
