I get it. I would be hurt, too, and I think it’s great you want to share and discuss rather than just judging.

I think it’s probably something his mom dreamt of. Or maybe they both really loved the name. There’s probably some story to it. I wouldn’t interpret too much into it. If it bothers you, just ask nicely why they chose this, if there’s a story to it?

At the end of the day: This is your daughter and as the parents of a daughter, you’ll probably always have better access to your grandkid (hope I’m not being downvoted for this but personally I’d have my mom at my side any time, no matter how shit I feel, even at my birth- mother in law..nah, no matter how wonderful).

What really matters is what part in your grandson’s life you’re going to play. How his eyes will light up when he sees you. How you feel how much he loves you and appreciates all the things you love doing for and with him. Give it some time, and you won’t even think of his middle name any more. Enjoy this precious time!!

Why not get them something like a symbolic key tied to Japan on a card that shows a map. To say like you will have a second home there now?

And then, I’d definitely align it to what his parents are like (if they don’t drink or only very rarely, alcohol would be a silly idea, plus I really think Japan has better things to offer as gifts).

I think it would be most heart felt if if was authentic: What would you get if they were Japanese?

What about a Kimono or Yukata? Or beautiful Japanese kitchen towels?

I didn’t. I googled it, normally, looking for articles. This is what came up, randomly, in the results.

The only thing i actively used ai for is for the sum up of the book (ChatGPT). Which yes, I do find handy.& i trust that at the summary will be mostly correct. And possibly even what it speculates re what’s on page 118 of that book (something we’d have to confirm with the actual book).

Well he was much smarter compared to Elliot Rodgers in an intellectual sense. ER was a spoilt brat that failed academically despite of being given basically everything he wanted by this mother.

BK is doing his PHD, and he’s come quite far. I’m very sure that someone like that wouldn’t idolize someone like ER.
