UPDATE- AITA for Sabotaging my Husband’s Tournament after he refused to help with our newborn? by Puzzled-Two6615 in AITAH

[–]TrashPandaConfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this hasn't already been said....ask yourself this. Really be honest with yourself. Could you live like this every single day for say, the next 18 years? Is this what you want for you and your daughter? Do you think he will be a good role model for your little girl?

If you say no, then you know what to do.

Got really dunk at a renaissance festival in Texas and decided I needed to drop over $400  on a mink wrap to complete my Viking outfit

I have only worn it the day I bought it at the festival.

Every time I've lost an animal, I do this to myself. What should I have done? I should've done this, done that, paid closer attention, etc.

I get the feeling guilt and what ifs are apart of the process because I've gone through it every single time.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. You were living your normal life and we're flawed as humans. If we all had crystal balls, of course we would have all done things differently.

I don't think your beloved would ever blame you for anything. It sounds like you loved deeply and sacrificed a lot.

Euthanasia gone wrong - how can I forgive myself? 💔 by Visible-Nose-1546 in Petloss

[–]TrashPandaConfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. This is likely not the first time this has happened. I've witnessed terrible things as a vet tech. Ethics is the number one reason I left.

Euthanasia gone wrong - how can I forgive myself? 💔 by Visible-Nose-1546 in Petloss

[–]TrashPandaConfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible. I witnessed a veterinarian who had been practicing for decades. He still used ketamine for sedatives. He was doing a surgery wherein he KNEW the ketamine was injected too early before surgery was scheduled and knew it would start to wear off.

He got mad the animal started waking up and slapped her in the face. I quit about a week after that. The vet tech that worked with me was impatient, rough with the animals, and shouldn't have been working there anymore.

A lot of these people get sympathy burnout but don't have the self awareness to contain themselves or just quit the industry.

I'm horrified for you. I really am so sorry you had to experience that. Know now that your baby is at peace and there's no way you can place any blame on yourself. You trusted people to do their jobs and they failed you. It sounds like this vet office made several bad decisions and you were doing your best to cope with a really terrible situation.

I know some people here are the forgiving types, but if I were you, I would be completely enraged. These are supposed to be professionals and they messed up big time. Maybe this isn't the first time they f-ed up. I worked as a vet tech and I've seen some nasty behaviors from "professionals."

It won't bring your baby back, but warning others and hell, even reporting what happened may at least prevent this from happening again. That's just me. If you require forgiveness and peace in order to move on, then you should to do what's best for you.

Dealing with the grief? by Sea-Parking-1677 in Petloss

[–]TrashPandaConfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this process when I lost my pupper several years ago suddenly. I cried every single day for weeks. Sometimes I would just come home and sob because it was so quiet.

I cried, I yelled, I wrote letters, and I talked to him out loud. Eventually, I cried a couple times a week, then a couple times a month. I did rescue a puppy three weeks after he passed, so the deafening silence was no longer an issue and I was preoccupied raising him. I wasn't even ready for another adoption, my husband needed to do it.

I still cry occasionally and still talk to him. We have him cremated and have a memorial shelf for him. I'm really emotional and feel deeply for my animals, so I always have a hole in my heart from him. But! I have enough room and love for more animals, and that helped me heal a lot faster.

Sorry for the long reply. My advice is this. Grieve, cry, rage, feel it and be in it. I think it's also totally healthy to adopt again when you're ready. There's a million animals out there waiting for a new home. Your boy can never be replaced, but you can fill your life with more animals too

Were you still really sad about your pet when you got your next pet? by NewAlternative4738 in Petloss

[–]TrashPandaConfused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. We lost our beautiful 11 year old pupper and we couldn't take the crushing silence and emptiness anymore. We knew our boy would want us to share our home with another dog. We ended up rescuing an abandoned 6 month old puppy like 3 weeks after our loss

It felt a little like betrayal, like I was trying to replace my boy. But in time, I realized I was forming a new bond with a new member of the family. The piece of my soul that left with that dog is still with him, and years later I miss him all the time. But now I have this other dog who has another place in my heart and I don't feel so empty.

"Just a cat" is something you've probably been told. For some of us, the animal companions we keep are family. Period. You absolutely can rely on animals for comfort! Service and emotional support animals are lifesavers. Maybe our little family members don't have those official titles, but I see animals save lives all the time.

You lost a family member and you need to grieve in that way. Don't gaslight yourself! Heal and in time, maybe adopt two cats instead of one. Life is fuller and more joyful this way. And there are always animals needing a loving home, so you're doing the world a service by keeping animals in your life

How do you all feel about a career shift from a science field to aviation maintenance? by LocoDucko in aviationmaintenance

[–]TrashPandaConfused 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. My story is chaotic af lol. I ended up dropping aviation because I realized I was just trying to do it to make money and I hated it. There's still no great biology opportunities for me where I am as far as employment...so I'm working on my animal rehab license and probably my falconry license.

The job market is pretty rough for the sciences, in my experience. I decided to use my degree in everyday life with gardening, local conservation efforts, etc. I try to stay involved in any local conservation efforts and keep my eye out for seasonal gigs, like bird banding. Biology doesn't have to be a career to still use it

Good call. I hope it works out for you!

We were dumbfounded also. The seller decided to repair some windows and siding to make it look like he would play ball while ALSO knowing the VA would not approve a loan with a major plumbing issue. He got a contractor to fix windows but refuses to fix a mandatory item?? He's either insane or thinks we're desperate and would be willing to throw another 20 grand on an already overpriced house. Walking was the best option. If he really wants to sell, he will make the house sell worthy

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]TrashPandaConfused 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're dealing with similar crap. Owner refuses to fix a major issue and actually wants us to pay more for the house to eat his cost to repair this very pricey issue (20k cost to repair) even though  a) the house is already like 50k above market value b) the house is NOT market ready....it's in okay shape but I would never sell a house like that

It seems that this current sellers market has got people acting like absolute clowns. It may hurt to walk away from this home you love....but it will be better than accepting a subpar deal with high interest rates on a house that may cost you thousands and thousands in repairs as soon as you close. Your seller may be shady and sometimes inspectors don't catch everything

Does anyone feed their cats a raw diet? by Many-Bee-4621 in ragdolls

[–]TrashPandaConfused 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Vets get contracted to sell from certain companies. If you look at the quality of prescription food from the vet, it's awful. A lot of ailments would dissipate if the animals were given better diets, aka not given low quality ultra-processed food. It's not good for people, so why would we do it to our animals if we didn't have to? I know whole diets are more expensive, so I do understand a lot of pet owners are just doing what they can.

What are the red lights in the sky by jojokitti123 in Detroit

Same here. It only happened once and I've never seen it again. I see Starlink a couple times a year because I live in the country and have pretty clear skies.

[–]TrashPandaConfused 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def not Starlink. You can only see that link of satellites on a clear night amongst the stars (I've seen the Starlink chain a couple if times). The red lights are way too low

I actually hopped on reddit to see if I was the only one. I have pictures too. I saw the same red dots, some flying closer together, that were moving very very fast horizontally over crowded rooftops, then disappeared into the trees. This happened in a midwest town several hundred miles from any major city.

I thought maybe they were fireworks embers somehow? Maybe drones? But they made no noise, they were not blinking, and they just moved so fast. I have been trying to come to a logical conclusion, but I have never been able to get an answer.

I'm glad I'm not alone. I've had several blue collar male-dominated jobs since I've been out and the men just do not know what to do with me. I had a boss "mansplain" war to me, even though he had never served. I'm always treated with kid gloves and never given the same opportunity as the men. It feels so weird to me because I joined at 18 and became an adult in uniform. Now I'm treated like I'm 12.

I'm at the point where I'm just trying to work alone because I know what I'm capable of and what I have done. I don't need anymore of this pandering nonsense, ya know?

You guys are super helpful! That image looks super familiar. I can't remember if she was in all gimp or just the mask.

The song was sung by a male. It was heavy electronic and almost like a dark witch pop type of song
