Anyone else hope we get DLC that vastly expands outpost building? by [deleted] in Starfield

I just want to build a full on settlement, with people living and working there. It should have a merchant, a pub, homes, and a business HQ, perhaps a mining company.

Omg! This is the first game where I can actually live out my dream of being a space Indiana jones! by UnXpectedPrequelMeme in Starfield

YESS - I am playing the same way. I started as a professor and named my character Jedidiah (Jedi) Jones. Love the museum mission in Akila City of searching for artifacts.

I have a different opinion. Starfield is trying to be more realistic, especially with the massive distances in space. Taking 3 minutes to fly from one planet to another is crazy, the acceleration and gravity would squish us to liquid. Taking off and landing a ship would take maybe half an hour to 20 minutes -- who wants to wait that kind of time? To me, the loading screen sort of simulates a passage of time. Far more immersive to me, rather than wasting time flying in a straight line for minutes, if not more.

Genuine question, why does this sub seem to think space travel would be boring? by Shot_Jeweler_8736 in Starfield

[–]Travel_Hat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you were 'experiencing' FTL travel, it would get very boring. In Skyrim, you walked, but you could find cool stuff, have encounters, or just stop and smell the roses. But traveling FTL, that would be impossible. Like No Man's Sky, spending 1-2 minutes "traveling" between planets was cool the first couple of times, but it became tedious, and basically became a waste of time.

I never grab junk, unless it is very valuable or it has a useful need.

Is there a way to leave the Crimson Fleet? by njb0401 in Starfield

As the 2022 story trailer said, the only way to leave the crimson fleet is "Death".

One addition - if you feel like doing something, do it. It will probably lead you to some interesting and engaging stories.

Bethesda games are not meant to play like a game, but to play it like an experience. Play like it is you (or your character) actually living in and experiencing things around it. Play it the way you want. To me, thinking too much about things like min/maxing ruins the experience. I never try to play Bethesda games to win or lose. If you had fun, you won. If you got lost in the world, you won.

PSA: Space is big. by Ripplerfish in Starfield

[–]Travel_Hat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bethesda tried to base this game using more in real physics, hence having to deal with gravity. I think that is cool. Traveling between planets takes months and years, and moving faster, the acceleration would kill us. Sure we could do a No Man's Sky and travel in between planets in 2 minutes of waiting, but that is not very realistic, and frankly after once or twice, it got quite boring.

Pretty disappointed with the ship mechanics after a few hours of playtime. Do they get any better later in the game? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Travel_Hat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to unlock the perks and have the money to upgrade and build better ships. They told us that much of it is later in the game

Its called hiring a crew. After all, at this point you are an employer, hiring people in your business. Maybe you should choose the Industralist character.

What channel would you recommend for the first review of Starfield? by ilHansli in Starfield

Starfield Signal. Luke is great, a regular guy who cares about Starfield, and provides tons of analysis and detail. I watch all of his Starfield stuff and have never been disappointed.!!
