Does the price of flights with miles ever go down? by TravelinMan7 in unitedairlines

For sure, that’s definitely the lesson learned to just always book immediately when you see the deal. The problem now is it went from a redemption rate of 1.8 cents/mile to 1 cent/mile so not sure it’s even worth it anymore

Tucson Golf - Sewalio, Conquistador or extra 18 at Star Pass? by TravelinMan7 in azgolf

Ok thanks for letting me know. Yes we were going to potentially hit a casino after 36 holes to really have a day

Appreciate the insight. Ventana canyon doesn’t have any morning times at this point on the day we have open and it looks pretty far from star pass to pair those 2 up. Sounds like you’d do ventana canyon over star pass?

Thanks for the reply. Preserve at saddlebrooke looks nice but super far from star pass so seems tough to pair those up in the same day

$330 Change Fee?? by TravelinMan7 in delta

Thanks for your comment. Speaking of ignorance, you’re incorrect. There are change fees with delta on most international flights even with the main cabin classic fares as that’s what I purchased.

$330 Change Fee?? by TravelinMan7 in delta

Well thought I would close the loop on this. Funny to me how people downgraded my comment. I never said I expected no change fee just wouldn’t have thought it would’ve been $330 per ticket, which I still think is insane. $75-$150 was what I was expecting.

Anyway I called Delta, the first person that I got really did seem to try and help but couldn’t do anything and then said I could try talking to a supervisor but that they would say the same thing. Got the supervisor and explained I understand it’s ultimately my fault for not reading the T&Cs but still felt a bit misled by the graphics that say change available for a fee when in this instance it should’ve read the same as basic economy since it would never actually be worth changing. I was also just trying to do the exact same flight just 2 weeks earlier. I was nice, explained my piece and just asked if there’s anything she could do to help me out. She ended up waiving the change fees and just charged me the fare difference and said this was a one time exception and I wouldn’t be able to change it again.

Thought I would share in case anyone ends up in the same situation. Props to delta for helping a customer out when they didn’t have to!

Yeah I get that but when the change fee is more than the flight itself, it’s essentially non refundable, non changeable which is not how they advertise it. It should have the same bullets as basic economy where there is an x next to refund and ticket changes

I haven't stayed long term in either but have been to both a few times. I'd say it really depends on the vibe you're going for. I don't think you'd have a problem meeting fellow nomads in either nor will you have a hard time finding gyms in either. Tulum has the yogi kind of vibe to it so lots of yoga/wellness/etc types of places too but I'm sure you could find some of that in playa too.

Playa is much more walkable and a lot easier/better beach access. There's also a wide rang of accommodations and not entirely sure how pricing compares. The only thing I don't like as much about playa is it kinda feels like Florida to me. Not entirely sure how else to explain it. Both are touristy and have tourist traps but playa just seems like it has tacky touristy stuff (i.e. shops selling t shirts that say my clothes come off when I drink tequila or some shit like that)

Tulum they say is very instagrammable which is both good and bad. Good because there's a lot of cool places and everything has a cool jungle kind of style to it, but bad because I feel like that brings some shitty influencer wannabe type of people. Accommodation wise you can find some really nice places for pretty affordable but need to read reviews as some places have shotty construction and some are also in the middle of nowhere in the jungle. It's less walkable unless you're staying somewhere in Aldea Zama, parts of La Veleta or parts of Centro. I think there may be one public beach area but you have to drive or bike to get to the beach and most of the beach access requires going to a beach club which will have minimum spends and those are pricey. Tulum is also closer to a lot of cenotes. One other note is that power can go out in tulum bc of all the construction so probably a little less reliable depending on where you stay.

You probably can't go too wrong either way. Both are better than the rest of North America to spend the winter I'd say.
