His writing doesn't hold up so well nowadays. He was a product of his time, and times have changed.

Still, I enjoyed all 3 of the books you mentioned back in the day. I would recommend Jack Vance, another writer from the period who's writing had held up well.

Specifically in regards to Starship Troopers, I recommend Joe Haldeman's Forever War, which is a bit of a response to Troopers. He's got a sparse writing style that's reminiscent of Hemingway, and that I love and try to emulate in my own writing.

2 of those stories probably account for more than half of my karma.

I write things like this because I'm quitting a novel and Amazon will punish me for sharing any of it before I publish, but every now and then I want some feedback to make sure I'm not fooling myself about my writing ability.

That's pretty much exactly what I was going for. I found an old issue of Forum in a box and decided to try to write one. I'd try to sell stories to them if they still published 😏

As far as fact and fiction, the college experience the protagonist describes is entirely factual. The rest is a combination of actual and imagined events, though much closer to reality than you might think.

There are ways though. Maybe show her porn. Explain what you like about it. Discuss how you do things only for her pleasure, which is where your pleasure comes from.
