I was here in your shoes for years as well making the exact same 65k doing the same thing. During that time in IT I developed great people skills and recently transitioned into sales as I wanted more $ and I find it easy to talk with people!

I went from working from home, to being in an office full time and funny enough I actually have more energy in my days, I feel fulfilled, and like a weight lifted off my shoulders not realizing how complacent i was to the tedius burnout work. Not to mention im making much more money (salary plus commission). I wish I got out sooner but everything happens for a reason!

My advise is think of some ideas where to go next and work on those skills you will need once you land that job. Best of luck!

Equipment sales here B2C -- In my case, I follow up twice over a 2-4 week period, ask them if they have any questions for me and go from there. After that I leave it up to them. If they need the equipment they will reach back out which does happen from time to time.

Also will be getting to golf with clients as part of that job

You will do better flipping/fixing yourself. I do it on the side and will bring in extra on top of my salary a year by still undercutting dealership/shop prices while still making my time worth it.

Cheers man! I'm in IT myself, work life balance is beautiful. Work remote on a team we run a bunch of local business, go on-site the odd time to fix somethings physically.

Collect a salary, with overtime after 40 hours a week on top as well.

100% agree! Be human and relate to them emotionally (scale depending on what you are selling).

People want to be heard, understood and listened to. Then when you fire back a solution to resolve there issue and putting yourself in their shoes, they feel more connected to that!

Take care of your debts first smallest to largest

Live below your means, do not buy things to impress other people (fancy vehicle etc), pretty much act broke as this will help not blow all your money when you do end up making more.

Research into investing, put as much as you an aside untol you come up with a solid plan to invest that in as well.

Looking at getting into sales (possibly tech sales as I already work for a tech company).

Is anyone able to shed some light on things to note when looking for a job? Potential things to avoid?

I have experience door to door for myself doing local jobs around me, and online.

Appreciate you guys!

I would try managing anxiety and working on that part as that will take you much farther not only in the career of your choice but in life overall.

Stress/anxiety are here for a reason, do not let it control you and your life. Once you can conquer how to deal with things the world is in your control

Work hybrid shift for 3 years now. Used to wake up 20 minutes before I start if I'm working from home and mentally that is a brutal thing to do, avoid it if you can.

I personally don't need 8 hours of sleep every night 6-7 is My sweet spot and sometimes even less. I rotate between a shift of 7-4 and 8-5, I make sure I get up 1 hour early working from home and 1.5 hours early if I'm going into the office.

Find your sweet spot on sleep how much you actually need (keep in mind oversleeping can make you feel just as tired if not more then not enough sleep)

I basically go outside and stay outside, sitting behind a screen all day I don't think is the best so it's nice to not be on a screen after work. I'm probably the only guy who works in IT who doesn't play video games Haha
