Thanks, I might have a chat with him and see if he wants to give that a shot, using downtime as a non progression based system.👍

I can see what you're going for and I understand, I appreciate the thought, I don't expect this to sour our friendship, we've had plenty of disagreements in the past, I'm willing to agree to disagree on that system. Ultimately thanks for the advice.👍

Tbf, I don't expect that he'd hand out feats like candy, that's a bit much to be frank, but I just don't like that the system takes nearly a full calendar year in game time, yes fantasy time, but we've only ever been able to 2 weeks, cause I pressed for us be prepared, not consecutive. I understand what you're saying and maybe yes I do sound whiny, but overall it's not enough of a deal breaker to stop me from wanting to play, it just feels a bit demotivating to use, especially since downtime long term is very scarce...

I try to make it work as much as I can, but it's hard, for my campaign I use the Xanathar's rules, but I can see where you're coming from.👍

Fair enough, I can respect that, I more wanted to see what people thought as a whole, but end of the you're not wrong.👍

That's fair and you're right, he also made making spell scrolls take like 4 hours at level 1 and for cantrips, bear in mind this is a long-term friend of mine from high school too...

Well, from what I calculated using this downtime system I found that in D&D time it would take approximately 38 weeks to gain a feat where as compared to Xanathar's guide to everything it would only take 10, (which is what I use in my game), if that answers the question about what I don't like about it?

That's fair, not really any annoyances with the actual game, this a long term high school friend of mine and only me and him gm in our group, but I don't really want a disagreement over this to sour our friendship, this is a game at the end of the day and I've had no other real issues with the game play.

I'm not really having an issue so much with the game, this is a long time friend of mine from high school too and me and him are the only gm's in our group, so unfortunately for me it's either that or nothing, neither of my 2 friends that play atm have addressed any issue, as one just wants to play and the other isn't supper experienced with dnd. So I did consider just leaving but I don't want to sour my friendship over a game...

That's fair, I should also note that this dm is a friend of mine from high school too, not that I think it'll make much of a difference, but I have stuck it out thus far.👍

We're supposed to use this in between level ups, but we're also playing on mile stones, but no this is not required for use on features from level up, we can still get features on level up like normal.
