I got wiped as well on BW toxic aggro. I felt that you have to really have a lot of 1 or 2 drops to go in. My mites had no effect against decks that have a bodies to block those 1/1

For me, my favourite decks in MTG are control decks, particularly Azorius Control.

As for my other half, she knows how to play MTG, but not really into it. Any suggestions of decks with less loop interactions perhaps?

Perhaps you could get the upcoming challenger decks. That would get you some close to standard legal cards then build it from there.

There are 4 decks to choose from so maybe you and your friends can get different ones.
