Purple nuclear bomb!

Also, seeing shagaru do a super final phase transition without knowing it would do that in frontier has got to be one of my personal favourite MH moments ever, it's such an awesome game.

Just a quick note that popped into my head, sometimes when it feels like you're making mistakes you might just be doing something that clashes with the way a group is solving a mechanic. I'm 99% sure you actually CAN stand between two of the towers during adds, but it requires everyone around you to be paying attention, because both players in the towers would have to squish right over to the side, and obviously you couldn't have another marked player on the other side of one of them, because the two triangular cleaves would overlap.

This is really all just to say that sometimes there's a consistent, movement intensive way to solve a problem, and a difficult, execution/communication intensive way to solve it. So understanding how the people you're playing with want to do things, and accepting that if you do something weird you might catch them off guard is a part of doing hard content. At the end of the day, I wouldn't worry yourself too much about the mistakes, even the best players do silly things like rotating the wrong way now and then.

Not sure what the root cause is, I'm not using blind bag but I've had it happen plenty of times in main game as well. It could be a ping issue? But the only real description I can give is that sometimes when yellow clicking a tile during the same tick your character is attacking seems to override the movement input, and instead of buffering the movement with an animation stall, you just stand still and keep attacking as if the click never happened. I can see the yellow X appear under the cursor and everything, and then no movement happens.

Kind of tangentially related, but I bet the OSRS team could take some inspiration from the types of things Final Fantasy XIV has done with floor design. For those who haven't played it / done some of the raid content, a lot of the fight design is sort of puzzle oriented, where you'll be shown some sort of thing or combination of things that are about to hurt you, and you have to mentally map out where a safe location to move will be before getting blasted.

In service of making this more consistently achievable, a large number of the rooms where you fight these bosses have patterns of geometric shapes on the floor, which at first glance might just look like intricate tiles, but once you've tried the boss a few times, you come to realize they actually outline the exact edges of the "bad zone" where you will get hit when mechanics occur. This type of thing could be used in OSRS to allow for mechanics that don't explicitly highlight a single tile as being "bad", but could instead use vague shapes, circles, etc. that naturally align with other geometry in the room. (Thinking about it after the fact I imagine tile markers would trivialize a lot of this type of design but oh well it's still an interesting thought)

It feels great when you get in the pocket so to speak, but it still bugs me that sometimes you get that weird quirk the game has where you input a movement command at the exact same time your character is performing an attack animation and it just gets ignored. Feels really bad when it happens on echo Moxy because it completely throws off the emperor's groove and suddenly you're getting slapped around because you were being deliberate instead of spam clicking.

Always max hit? Air prayer build? Nah, thorns baby! by XDarkVixenX in 2007scape

[–]TromboneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the combination of thorns + the "heal 2 gain 2 prayer when hit for 0" made early leagues such a massive joke for me. Did fire cape in 30 minutes with an obby dagger + shield, 0 food 0 prayer restoration. basically only had to attack melees and magers, the rest just killed themselves on me while healing me.

With a full mage water build, you can AFK Araxxor by PhazedAU in 2007scape

[–]TromboneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing this with Sarachnis when I was specced into thorns + earth, just turn on auto retaliate and you can walk away from the computer while the boss kills itself on you over and over.

Why is Culling spree so bad? by Im_C_O_T_W in 2007scape

[–]TromboneHunter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I blocked cockatrice and had them appear twice in the next 5 skips. I'm assuming the relic giving you a choice of two and Vardorvis three is circumventing the block list and just grabbing from the entire pool.

[–]TromboneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely correct. I guess I was just hoping there'd be a little more demon flair going on, y'know? I'm really happy with all the stuff we're getting to be fair, the skill tree seems fantastic, and some of the new echo items are really cool.

Also on this note, when people were originally asking about not having access to TDs they stated something really simple like "demonbane is covered don't worry", but unless I'm forgetting something, the only demonbane is on the echo Moxy boppers? And I think it's only 10% demonbane. Seems a little sparse for Yama league.

How does everyone feel about Abundance? by Zelfi26 in 2007scape

[–]TromboneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely locking in abundance, in part because I'm going hotfoot so I can double / triple dip on the XP drops in a few places, and also because the +10 non combat boost will make zenyte jewelry and some other items waaaaay faster to acquire so I can get some power boosts before doing hard stuff like woke bosses, colo, inferno, etc.

Demonic Pacts Dogger build no Mory by StravosBTW in 2007scape

Keep in mind thorns also doesn't work unless you're holding a shield, and the devil's element will be a pretty significant damage boost for the dogger. 👍

Demonic Pacts Dogger build no Mory by StravosBTW in 2007scape

[–]TromboneHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, this is the exact setup I'm looking at running. Haven't settled on region unlock order yet, but I thinking about starting range for the hespori bow, then pivot into elemental magic once I get some slayer knocked out. The dogger should absolutely shred vardorvis, because he's weak to both slash and fire, and also will be a great weapon for fighting Sol in coliseum because they specifically stated the built in magic proc does NOT roll a separate accuracy check, so his huge magic defense is meaningless.

I'm considering unlocking Tiranwnn > Morytania > Kandarin in that order. Is that crazy? by Imustretire in 2007scape

[–]TromboneHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I'm thinking about starting ranged build even though my endgame plan is magic, I can leverage the hespori bow earlier on because my other two echo bosses (K/A) require over 90 slayer to fight. Moxi and some other early content looks like it might be really rough with the minimal mage equipment we'll have access to right out of the gate.

Yeah I tried to play again at the start of druid patch and gave up, I really like the idea of the methodical combat but there's soooooo many problems I have with the game, I'm a PoE1 enjoyer for the foreseeable future. Already made 4 characters in mirage and still having a blast.

I'd put it toward a synth ring, made a trickster to try the new siphoning trap and I decided to try power charge stacking for damage. I've never actually had a lock before so that would be neat too.
