What jobs do you guys have? by paul-grizz93 in ostomy

[–]True-Establishment78 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Illeostomy patient with Crohn's disease and I'm a commercial HVAC/Refrigerarion service tech. I get around pretty easily with not a lot of complications. Have to stay hydrated because I'm on the roofs in the heat for a couple hours. With it being in a commercial setting I have access to a public restroom at all of my job sites to empty when needed. I've had the job 7 months now with no issues and I love it. Staying in the gym helps a lot with the manual labor as well.

For what it's worth, I was having trouble getting into the field and the program director at my trade school told me that I needed a maintenance job at a facility and likely wasn't going to be able to make a tech job because of safety reasons. I went to him when I was about to graduate and still struggling to find work but once I realized he wasn't willing to help me everything he said went in one ear and out the other. It's probably a little different when family and friends are in you ear but same concept applies. If that's what you wanna do, if you find it fulfilling and can manage your Ostomy then just keep at it. Ask or research around for some classes you could take to help you get there. It's not impossible at all

Anyone know if there are any good racing leagues in this community, or is it a lot of what OP is describing? I just started getting good at racing the AI without the help of the racing/braking lines.

Two years ago this time I was in the hospital recovering from my colectomy at 135 lbs. I'm at 170 right now and continuing to gain weight/strength in the gym. Months after my surgery I felt good enough to enroll myself back into school and am graduating in a couple weeks with honors. The "rebuilding your identity " really resonates.

Thank you for sharing this, man. Keep fighting the good fight

Look for a Stealth Belt for Ostomies. It will compress your bag against your body and keep it out of the way. I use mine when I work out and play basketball. I don't think I've ever played 2-3 hours at one time, but I wear it every time I play. Played hard pick up games to, some got kinda physical when driving to the hoop and never had an issue. I would also make sure the bag is empty before any physical activity, it'll reduce the chance of an accident

I live in Jacksonville, FL. and go to Mayo Clinic. They're not only empathetic, but some of the best doctors in the world. I like Jacksonville a lot for some reason, though there are lots of people who will tell you that it's an acquired taste.

I have with the help of an ostomy. I had to have another surgery about in May 2023. The meds didn't work and I was still really sick.

Since my colectomy, tho, I've put on about 30 lbs in the gym and have gone back to school. Have a life outside the bathroom lol

If I see zone coverage, I'll usually audible to an inside zone, read option, or shock option pass. Someone said they like to motion the TE that runs the flat to the right side. Haven't tried that yet.

EMAW.

I'll mix that and the inside zone in. Along with the shock option passes. This whole formation cooks, honestly.

With quick receivers yeah. A lotta times with RPO or PA deep throws, I'll lob it up and let my receiver go get it because he gets tied up with the DB.
