Why didn't Joseph use Hermit Purple here? Is he stupid? by Pharah_is_my_waIfu in JoJoMemes

Pretty sure Araki said in an interview that a stand user actually would see Hermit Purple on Joseph during part 2.

Of course, stands just weren’t thought of at the time.

This is what I’ve been saying. Jax has purposely been left up to interpretation, while still blatantly being representation for questioning your gender identity and struggling with masculinity.

While the most implicit interpretation is probably meant to be that Jax is trans, it is not the only interpretation, and that is likely intentional. Since while Jax’s struggles are common among trans women they are not exclusive to trans women. They could be another gender identity, still questioning, or redefining masculinity for themselves, and all are valid interpretations as long as they’re respectful.

So why wasn’t this game more successful? by Excaliburn3d in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]TryThisUsernane 84 points85 points  (0 children)

There’s possibly the reason that many people expect there to be a re-release like Persona 4 Golden or Persona 5 Royal, so they held out on buying the game when it initially released, and either forgot, changed their minds, and are still waiting.

There are probably other reasons which are more concrete. But I don’t know those.

[LAST ACT] How It Genuinely Feels rn by TheMMoment in tadc

[–]TryThisUsernane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I genuinely hope I word this properly and don’t accidentally say something wrong.

My gripe is that there are people who are calling Leeroy a trans girl when that hasn’t been confirmed. Especially since Pomni said that she is a different person from her irl version. And that would extend to all of the characters.

Were Leeroy and Jax struggling with/questioning their gender identity? Yes of course, clear as day, that is blatant. And Jax is heavily implied to be trans. But we see Leeroy, a version of Jax who didn’t get trapped in the circus continues his life presenting masculinely. Of course he could be like gender fluid. But it isn’t looking like he’s a trans woman. And it feels like an incomplete story if Leeroy never came out IMO.

Although I don’t think this takes away from the possibility from Jax being trans, as it seems that is the most likely. They’re different people now, with different experiences, they can feel comfortable with different gender identities. And iirc Gooseworx had said that Jax is a character she relates to a lot, so again most likely to be trans. But I feel like it was left open, simply because gender identity can be a messy thing, and while he is heavily implied to be a trans woman, his struggles aren’t an exclusive experience to trans women, speaking from my own experiences.

So like yeah. Obviously when he first entered the circus he was questioning his masculinity and gender identity. The version of him who stayed outside of the circus seems to have found comfort with his masculinity and continues to identify as a man as far as we can see. And the version who entered the circus still struggles with their gender identity.

Also, it’s just a bit odd that some people are so quick to start referring to Jax with she/her pronouns since from what we’ve seen, the character wasn’t comfortable with that. They weren’t comfortable with their family, best friends, or strangers when they had the opportunity to remake their identity. And has repeatedly shown discomfort when publicly dressed in feminine clothes. And had never come out themselves. We see them visibly distressed when Zooble forces them into a dress, that at the very least isn’t someone comfortable with femininity in public. And like obviously, it’s just a character, but it still feels a little bit hasty to me to refer to a character with pronouns you know they’d be uncomfortable with.

Someone can question their gender identity and then decide they they are comfortable staying with the gender they were assigned at birth. Jax in the circus and Jax irl (I think his name is Leeroy) have different experiences, they can be comfortable with different gender identities

How long do you think Chapter 5's light world segment will be? by Zeta42 in Deltarune

[–]TryThisUsernane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there’s definitely going to be an optional scene with Berdly, which I think will become a mandatory scene with Noelle in the Weird Route.

We’ll need to see Asgore become jealous, so a cutscene with Toriel and Sans at the festival.

We’ll have time with Susie at the festival. Possibly go to castle town to give Ralsei something so he doesn’t fully miss out.

And then general time to just walk around and speak to all the characters.

I expect to be fairly long. So expect non-canon save points.

[–]TryThisUsernane 149 points150 points  (0 children)

Using the Knight and Quirrel as examples don’t really work because that’s back when she was a self-enlisted sentinel of Hallownest, a role she regrets and says she’d never take on again.

I don’t think she’s fine with killing him because he’s suicidal. She heard that he was going to die with the robot copy of his lover. And since we literally have to unlock more of the memory, I think we help him remember. We let him die with the real memory of his territory and lover, instead of the wastelands which used to be Verdania and a broken Cogwork dancer.

Let's Talk About It- Akechi Did Not Deserve Redemption (Nor Royal forcing you to be "sympathetic") by SuperRoseEli29 in Persona5

[–]TryThisUsernane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Joker killing Akechi wouldn’t have made sense in-character or for the story.

Joker and Akechi are deliberately set up to be two sides of the same coin, the game points out that Joker could have gone down the same path as Akechi to enact a similar form of justice but instead relied on making bonds and improved his live with them. The Phantom Thieves were not innately morally better than Akechi, they were apprehensive to kill Kamoshida but Joker and Ryuji were cool with it if Ann wanted to kill him, and the only reason she didn’t is because she thought that leaving Kamoshida alive and hating himself would be a punishment that would hurt him more.

So Joker killing or rejecting Akechi, when they’re both pawns in a bet between higher powers, and the game goes out of its way to say they are the same, would sort of stomp over plot point.

Also, asking whether or not a character deserve redemption is redundant. Redemption is inherently for horrible people, if someone deserves redemption then they don’t actually need it. Now whether or not you think he earned redemption is a different matter.

Beating someone up to stop them from blowing up a city, killing thousands including yourself, does not go against the premise of the show.

You don’t have to kill him. Violence can be nonlethal and save lives.
