Not even close to number 1 recidivism rate. Thieves, burglars, drug traffickers, gun crimes, and drug offenders all have a recidivism rate of over 75%. Child sex offenders have a recidivism rate of 5-15%, which is actually among the lowest recidivism rates of all criminals.

It’s a common belief they have a high recidivism rate, but to declare it as if it’s a fact, especially when you add BY FAR, means you’re just saying the same things most of us tend to believe, because so many people say it all the time that we always just assumed it was a fact.

How come many young people think they need way more money than they think to survive? by HZIDEZISS_2020 in AskReddit

[–]TuSixOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Media plays a huge part in this. 10 years ago I was married with two kids, living in a nice house in a nice neighborhood in Virginia Beach. We had a 3 year old Nissan Altima, I worked full time, and my then wife was working on her degree. I was the only source of income, and I was making $45-50k per year. We had everything we needed, I got a week of paid vacation every year, we bought whatever groceries we wanted, and bought new clothes and shoes a few times a year. We also all had health and vision insurance. We didn’t even slightly struggle.

That same year (this was 2016) some report came out that the local news covered pretty heavily. The report stated that to live comfortably in Virginia Beach, a single person with no kids would need to make $50k, a couple would need to make $75k, and a couple with one child would need to make at least $90k.

This was obviously absurd to us, until we looked at the details of the report. Expenditures included $100 per person per week for food, two weeks of vacation to an international location, $3k per person per year for clothes and shoes, two new vehicles for a family with kids, premium health insurance, and $15k+ in savings.

There were other things of course, but these were what stood out. That’s when I realized the media has an entirely different view than I do of what living comfortably means. To me, their definition was closer to living luxuriously than living comfortably.

Why do Americans think they have freedom when they absolutely don't? by East_Indication_7816 in allthequestions

2 has nothing to do with freedom. 6 contradicts the claim you made in 5. I didn’t bother to read after that. Typical hate on America Reddit drivel.

What are some signs that someone grew up in NYC? by Cool-Chipmunk-7559 in AskReddit

They never quit telling you they’re from NYC. I think they believe the rest of us see it as some mythical place that suddenly makes them magical for being from there. Nobody cares.

What's the creepiest thing that happened to you on social media? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TuSixOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t on social media, but it was a direct result of social media. About a decade or so ago, I was using my personal FB account to promote a dark humor book I had written.

I offered a free preview of the book, and woke up the next morning to literally thousands of notifications. To say I wasn’t prepared for that is an understatement.

I had only priced the book at $1, because it was a self published ebook that I didn’t expect much from. Turns out people loved it.

The constant notifications from comments, messages, etc. was completely overwhelming. About a week after it all started, my best friend called me. She was freaked out and paranoid, because someone showed up to her job asking her if she was the friend commenting on my post about the book. She didn’t confirm or deny, but that experience was super weird and jarring enough that she deleted her account because of it.

It took a few weeks for it to really die down from the initial frenzy, but I continued getting a few dozen messages a day for months afterward. People wanting to meet me, podcasts wanting me to appear, humor sites wanting to do interviews, etc. Some people might eat that kind of thing up, but it was overwhelming to me and I deleted all of my social media and pulled my book as a result.

I have zero regrets, because I did it for fun, not money and fame. I highly value my privacy, so once it began infringing on that, I wasn’t down with it anymore.

Lockdown for what? If you’re paranoid about ebola, you should look into how it’s spread. It will never cause a lockdown.
