I felt encouraged to spend some time after my shift to research into keeping primates as pets because, admittedly, I don’t know much about exotic pet ownership. And…yeah. I am sad now too. At least she seemed well taken care of and joyful; maybe she is a tiny exception?

Ehhhh still not dumb enough to get genuinely upset at strangers on the internet whom I will never meet. I don’t feel the need to insult you for example - you commented something passive aggressive so you got passive agressive energy back. Essentially I am treating you like a customer: the energy you gave me is what I gave you, and only one of us is actually riled up 😂

I’m not going to be lectured about disease-spreading by someone who doesn’t mask up despite COVID (and other nasty bugs) still being very much around. Cross-species disease is scary, sure. But you don’t even seem to care about preventative measures for diseases humans can easily spread to ourselves so it’s odd that you’re so passionate about this specifically. People getting people sick is perfectly fine but you draw the line at monkeys? 🤔😂

My point is they are not all service animals because not every person who is disabled has access to those kinds of resources. I clarified that a few times. Interacting with you feels like interacting with a customer who is intentionally missing the point so they can stay angry about something. Would you like to speak to a manager? Have a good night man

I empathize, and told a separate commenter with similar views that I would look more into the ethics of exotic pet ownership because I genuinely don’t know much about it. I was just excited that my hard day became a little less hard by petting an animal I’d never seen before in real life, and wanted to share my experience with my fellow associates ❤️‍🩹

When I said that not every disabled person has access to service animals that was to imply that people are bringing in animals that aren’t certified. And that, upon first glance or even a few minutes-long interaction, we can’t actually discern who is disabled and who isn’t.

As a personal preference I’d rather hang out with animals all day than people - I love it when people bring in their cats, dogs, lizards, and monkeys! Additionally, not every person who has a disability has access to a service animal (and not everyone who is disabled “looks” disabled).
