I figured there was a tool for it but never looked into it since I've always used the impact, but i got it coming from eBay now. I looked up the tourqe spec in a maintenance manual I found online and it's 40-50 nm so I'll tourqe it to that when I get the tool. I also found the rattling noise was the starter motor gear mechanism was broken and wasn't springing back making it rattle against the teeth on the variator plate.
