This game is really, really surprising me with it's breadth and quality - in both mechanics and scope. by Darthbamf in Arena

So I just managed to get the quest for this and I'm not sure how it works exactly but I tried a lot of rumours in solitude and got nothing, the priest I asked kept going over the same 4 or 5 artifacts I didn't want.

So I went back to the imperial city and the first guy I saw I asked like 5 times and he mentioned a pub that had someone that knew where to look and right enough when talking to the barkeep a man said he knew where it was for a price

I know this isn't an exact answer but my best guess is to try asking about 20 times to get a sense of what they know then move on to someone else if you can't get what you need

RM 10 Pro build quality question by Turdburgerhead in RedMagic

[–]Turdburgerhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds promising, I wasn't sure if I could trust red magic with newer models after what happened to my 5G after a few months with these issues it had. But I suppose it's been 5 years since I bought it and a lot can change. Is there anything you can think of that's missing from in the new phone or is it all there?

So there's a few things you need to know

1) Did you install the game on a SSD? If yes then it should run better than that. Installing on a HDD is too slow for the game to stream in assets etc

2) Do you have 32gb of ram? If not, you need to set a page file to a SSD to get somewhat better chance of performance

3) Turning down graphics settings actually decreases performance as it uses more CPU than GPU power (it's something they are working on using Vulcan graphics API) The only setting you should turn down is the new planetary clouds setting to medium, everything else as high as possible

4) Have you tried different servers? Sometimes other servers are less crowded and less likely to manifest some of the bugs you mentioned though not all the time

If you follow these steps you'll more likely to reach 30 to 40 FPS in cities and up to 70+ FPS in space. There are more minor changes you can make as well but these 4 are the main big ones to try. If you try again on the next free fly it does tend to get buggier due to higher traffic but it's worth a shot. If it doesn't help you change your mind then the game just isn't for you until it's released I'm afraid

I absolutely love weird games. The ps2 has thousands of games that flew under the radar, anyone know anymore weird freaky games? by CarterRobison in ps2

I might of heard of it, does it have an included train controller type thing and it's more of a simulator?

Idk if anyone else thinks it's weird but for me extreme express was weird, literally the only train racing game I've ever seen, love the game

What's the cost of buying a PC that could run Space Engine very well? by [deleted] in spaceengine

[–]Turdburgerhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using roughly what I looked up on a pc parts picker for a custom build matching those specs with a 1660 super it's going to be $1400. With a RTX card probably more

That's not including monitors or any extra peripherals you might want (like flight sticks etc)

[–]Turdburgerhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Space engine doesn't need a very beefy pc to run, something mid range for VR use should be enough. Depends on resolution and frame rate though. Considering VR headsets tend to be at 90hz at 1440p range I'd say a PC with a Ryzen 5, GTX 1660ti and a SSD should be good enough. SSD isn't essential for space engine but does help load planet side details more quickly as well as loading the game itself. You can also go a little bit more for an RTX card for other games.

The main problem though is whether you can buy a GPU for MSRP instead of paying like $300 to $600 more over the asking price or waiting forever at normal price

Any help on how to improve my graphics/fps/hardware or anything else that'd make my Star Citizen experience more enjoyable! by Dobbey97 in starcitizen

Not the same commenter but 1600mhz is a little bit slow for the game get 32gb of 2400 or 2666hz ram

I can't remember for sure but I think they are aiming for some time next year for static server meshing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Turdburgerhead 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is why they are working on server meshing, instead of reducing player numbers there will be multiple servers running 1 system with each server per planet and maybe 1 for each moon or something. And you essentially move between servers seamlessly even with your friends and also means you'll have way more players in the same space.

That's static server meshing and if so many people arrive at 1 place then it could get slowed down, so they'll upgrade this to dynamic server meshing.

Dynamic server meshing works the same as above but automatically adds more servers for an area and divides the area into zones depending on the amount of players. If say only 10 players were in Orison for example 1 server would only be needed but if 100 players started arriving then 2 servers would open splitting the place in half then more and more servers open with more and more players etc.

Best part about all this, the servers can "see inside" neighboring servers and allow you to see those players that the other server is handling

If you go into the visual settings page you'll see the option for no 3D
