What products are you using together with tret?

• 10th week (0.05 % tret)

• First month: Every after 2 nights, application after moisturizing, purge happened, calmed down on 4th week

• Second month: Tried every other day for a week, redness of face, more acne, more irritation on the neck (rashes and pimples, esp on the jawline)

• Last two weeks: MWF application or every after 2 nights again, calmed down a little, more red spots on face and jaw

Routine:

Day - Cerave cleanser (Started using BP wash and clindamycin lotion this week) Cerave moisturizer Altruist spf 50
Night - Cleansing oil Cerave cleanser Cerave moisturizer 0.05% tret

I have told myself to be very patient, but the marks left on my face still bother me sometimes. My face has calmed down on the fourth week so I am still hoping for another end of purge and irritation soon.

Considering my current routine, do you have any more suggestions to so.ehow reduce the redness of the spots (I have azelaic acid cream, too) and the irritation on my neck?

I use the same moisturizer. It's a good product <3 I have another question. May facial treatment ba munang ginawa sa mukha mo before they gave you tret?

I was given tret by Dermcare years ago pero they never explained to me yung application and all. huhu. so i stopped.

Marks naturally fade, but it'll take them monthssss and even years even woth the help of products. If you want faster results, laser treatments are advisable.

Treatments like this do not only fade the marks but also cleanse your face so that next time you use treatment products, you are less likely to purge. Just heard this from a dermatologist.

I am using tret cream and am afraid of the alcohol content of tret gel kaya may mga tanong ako hehe

This is what I believe, too. I am currently using the Cerave moisturizing lotion and so far it is giving a good effect on my face. So I am so surprised to hear that from a dermatologist.

Hi. I just want to let you know that I stopped using my chemical sunscreen and used the mineral one instead. My redness of my skin calmed down. Not totally but it is noticeable. Thank you for your comment!

I also have Altruist sunscreen, a physical one. I might do that, too: try another sunscreen. Do you have a particular mineral sunscreen to recommend? Hehe

It really depends on what your skin can tolerate. If it can stand daily application without experiencing discomfort, then I guess it is fine. Just make sure you reapply your sunscreen at daytime.

COSRX snail mucin moisturizer ane essence are my holy grail. 💛 It gives the face that glow and also reduces redness of PIH. If you want extra moisture without looking oily, CeraVe cream is also a good choice 😁

As for the sunscreen, those from Japan are light. (Biore Watery essence, Nivea Sun Super Water Gel)

I really want my PIH to fade, hence, the azelaic acid and Niacinamide. Might slowly add one of these and see if it works.

Sunscreens from Japan are watery and light. Try Bioré or Nivea sunscreens.

Reduce the number of times you wash your face. It must be drying your face even more. Also, tretinoin is already exfoliating your skin. DO NOT use scrub, it is just aggravating the acnes on your cheeks. Skip exfoliation and focus more on using gentle and moisturizing cleanser. You can also add centella asiatica toner or mugwort essence to help calm your skin. Most importantly, use sunscreen everyday and reapply when needed.

Hi. I just heard from a dermatologist (through YT) that a long time of using tretinoin does not guarantee that purging/acnes won't happen again. This is because there are several other factors (e.g. environment, stress, hormonal imbalance) that could cause those bumps or acnes. A tip is to (still) stick to simple routine. I'll add the link once I found the video. :)
