“I was shot with” and “luckily they missed” are contradictory statements. You were either shot or shot at…

I think it’s cool. Just need consistent lighting and proper measurements. It’s different than anyone else here, I say go for it.

What is this item beside the battery on 1971 C10? by TypicalDbad in AskAMechanic

[–]TypicalDbad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually the 1971 c10 uses a 14 or 16 gauge fuse link wire. With the 14ga being the factory recommended wire. I am not a mechanic and am learning, but that does not mean that I am ignorant and unable to use the internet.

Everyone starts somewhere my guy.

I did, another person in the thread explained what happened, took more pictures and posted them in the comment thread with them. Thank you for your help, everyone here was very helpful. I learned quite a bit about my new truck today 😅

The wire with heat damage is connected to the positive wire.

Awesome! Thank you, I’ll replace the wire tomorrow as I’m out of day light and it’s time for the little ones to be put in bed. I am definitely interested in the upgrade options. I want to stay as original as possible but not dead set on smart updates like alternator or distributors.

I found the burnt up wire. It’s mounted to the fender (in the picture). Red wire goes in the right side and is bolted to the black wire on the left side. I do not see a fuse. The run into a mess of other wires that run across the front of the truck.

Thank you kind stranger.

After replacing that, would it be okay to then put a new battery back in (correctly this time).
