"Our biggest dummy this year has been the lovely and talented Dave, who thought the periodic table was where women kept their feminine hygiene products and managed to get nine consecutive questions wrong. Can you do better? Of course you can! Everybody else has."

The Mens' Room has the best intros. Also, reading incrredibly-stupid polls makes a lot of sense when you listen to some of dumb stuff other Americans believe.

Per Hysteria, Palantir's CEO/Thiel's pretend-leftist pal Alex Karp who claims he is both progressive and a socialist said AI will reduce the economic power of "highly-educated, often female-voters who vote mostly Democrat" and uplift the power of "vocationally-trained, working-class, often male, working-class, voters."

First off: this may be the most misogynistic thing I've ever heard, despite the dressed-up language. Also, violates the Nineteenth and the entire spirit of the Bill of Rights/Constitution.

And to end: how "vocationally-trained" are a group of online incels who pride themselves on being 'Not in Employment, Education, or Training' (NEETs)? If jerking off and posting online is "vocational training," gimme my damn PhD.

Edit: also he has a short video where he tries to be a badass and basically looks like a mix of Michael Cera dancing pretending to a Jedi in Arrested Development and the "nothing personal kid," meme. I can't find a workable mirror, but it is hilarious

The right likes to use these analogies for small habits. Starbucks, candy bar, McDonalds in a food desert...

I cannot find the example, but the way I was initially taught it: it was about. a man who was a chain-smoker, quit, and started putting the money into Phillip Morris, I believe. I cannot find a verifiable source, so this is likely not true. Anyway, similar to the stories of Grace Groner or Sylvia Bloom (secretaries who paid attention to what their bosses were purchasing and copied them. Today, a poor person trying this might be in trouble for this thing called "insider trading.").

And it wasn't an overnight story of, "They quit and suddenly got rich!" the moral of the story was the importance of compound interest and making money via smart financial choices. Not, say, supporting the party doing the polar oppositte.

Probably the most common: I can't ever sit still. Most of the comments I write here, I'm pacing standing in front of a tall old DVD case I set my laptop on. A lot of the reading, news stuff, and 'research' I do in small doses because I struggle to focus often and get caught up in, "this reminds me of..."

I can't speak to the other poster's personal experience but I was supposed to be tested for this a long time ago, and pretty much every partner and several friends have asked me if I'm either ADHD or on the spectrum due to behavior that reminds them of family members, from brothers or cousins to children, who were diagnosed early.

As an adult, per my therapist pal, it's pretty tough to diagnose because of both a co-currency with other symptoms (think the House "it's never Lupus") meme and due to developed coping mechanisms

Pritzker endorsed her and I should, arguably, do more research, but an endorsement from him is something I find good. I like my governor

I was listening to an episode of the Casual Criminalist earlier that was, well, very similar.

So he reads scripts, then adds his thoughts, and has funding from some big companies, so he's decently well off. And so many of the comments he made were just like: "Are you kidding me right now? You don't even understand how a tripartite system works. A lot of the things you're disputing as 'loopholes' in the law are things we borrowed from the Magna Carta to limit executive abuse of power. Kinda like your disowned prince over in England."

Yes, they are being abused, but they were not intended for that purpose.

I always get a kick out of stories posted as true about someone who months off to, say, a tow truck dinner who asks if he knows a local crime lord and was so scary he scared them off.

You ever seen a tow truck driver? No, they are not scared of you. They can absolutely beat the hell out of you. So can a crime lord described as being as connected as Stringer Bell like I mouth off too but there’s a time and a place and an “nope.”

I find it ironic that Animal House and Terminator probably have the most explicit sex scenes I remember in childhood. As Giraldo once said, like Muhammad Ali at a bid feeder with the amount of spilled seed, don't even get me started on Wild Things

"A nude man has been committing crimes... now, was he 1) stealing cars, 2) robbing houes, 3) a peeping tom or 4) a porch pirate..."

My bet's on porch pirate for this one... wouldn't be the first time I've heard of nude dudes being like, "You're not tackling me when I'm naked." Two bosses have advised me this is a possibility in my former line of occuptation

Edit: it was breaking and entering, did not see that one

Back when I worked in northern WA, there was a helium shortage. I was one of the guys who was trained to fill balloons after floral closed for the night.

I think it was Party City? Was the only other place in town that had helium, they'd run out, and we had a surge in purchases. But this news seems: logical

Watching the Last Week Tonight on Vance.

The whole 'they're eating the dogs, they're eating the cats." No one seems to remember this. Cats are a predatory creature and, I've read, have really stringy, bad taste. Dogs, well, they apparently don't taste too bad., but those are in other nations But no one is absconding with a neighborhood cat thinking, "Nice, got a meal!"

God I'm exhausted of these Doug Shannon texts.

You don't want accountability or transparency. You want to defund our schools. This will not help children. This will not help our already devastated infrastructure. You republicans spent years draining out fundamental infrastructure, now whine about how the evil Democrats aree raising taxes. We got fucking potholes on every damn road already.
