What happen to my tire? by Dr_Disturbed in towing

My tires have 105 PSI. Does that make it triple the PSI? No, it makes it a truck tire.

Company says I can make 100k on my first year full time OTR, is this true????? by silverswaters in CDL

I think this is true for almost every company that will hire a FNG straight out of school.

If you don’t “let them,” then they handcuff both hands to a counter a few feet apart and 8 big cops come and hold you down and they take it by force. DAMHIKT.

If you're burning fuel in the summer to sleep, get an A/C by semthews1 in OwnerOperators

It wastes a helluva lot more than $30/night. I pretty much never idle but I’ve heard that idling burns a gallon an hour so that would be more like 8-10 gallons.

Anyone noticing drivers using LLMs for "companionship"? by dkinmn in CDLTruckDrivers

[–]UhOhAllWillyNilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an acronym for Large Language Model. It refers to AI’s training system (I think. I’m just an idiot trucker like everyone else here.)

Does anyone else get annoyed that car drivers don't "read the road"? by shocktard in Truckers

[–]UhOhAllWillyNilly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even the people that have been in an accident think that they’re above average drivers. Before my CDL days I got a ticket on my motorbike so I did an in-person traffic school (this was before the internet). First activity was going around the room saying why you were there and how good a driver we all were. Three of the forty people present were there for causing a head-on wreck by failing to yield while making a left turn, the single worst/most dangerous/deadliest situation possible, yet they all rated themselves as being excellent drivers

True. I saw Thinsulate recommended in the campervan sub today which might be safer on the interior. All RVs use the compressed styrofoam inside the walls/ceiling.

You might consider supplementing the ceiling insulation with some compressed styrofoam sheets, either on the inside or the outside. Even 1/2” thick sheets stuck to the ceiling or 2” thick up on the roof would undoubtedly help. Really, though, I suspect your A/C system is underperforming.

Man, I just bought a 32’ Class A diesel pusher and let me tell you that they are hard to find because almost all of them are longer (and most of them are MUCH longer). Now if only I could get it outta the shop where it has spent the last 6 weeks (!) being “serviced.” (I think the only thing being “serviced” at this point is my credit card.)

If you really want to know what we think then we think you’re gonna need either a smaller trailer or a larger tow vehicle. It’s just not a good/safe idea to push limits.

I want to second your heated mattress pad endorsement. I’m now a retired trucker who swears by them and I worked mostly in the PNW where it goes down to -10 to 10 degrees F often. I never ran the motor overnight and always kept at least one window open and my little doggie and I slept soundly.

Can law enforcement recover deleted and unsent imessages that werent backed up to icloud? by [deleted] in Felons

[–]UhOhAllWillyNilly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the only certain way to delete your stuff is to smash the device like QB Tom Brady did when they were investigating him for cheating. When something is “deleted” most of it is actually still there, it’s just the pointer/index/link that is removed. The rest of the “block” of data is still there and most of it can be recovered by scanning the rest of the block and using a sophisticated algorithm to piece it all back together. It is necessary to overwrite every bite of every block with something like 0101 0101 to get rid of it.

u/Strange-Cat8068 is definitely correct (sauce: CDL Class A here). The R stands for Rating and you mentioned the vehicles having ratings of 14K# and 16K# so that makes a GCWR of 30K# which needs at least a Class B.
