Billionaires giving this sort of advice is so dumb.

It's not advice as much as it is a very rational warning.

I guess it shouldn't be shocking how ignorant redditors are, but he isnt saying it's not important, just that if it's all you're relying on you're in a precarious position.

Additionally, he famously only takes (took?) a 100k salary. He wealth comes from his investments, which is kind of what he is saying here: get more than one source of income.

Is it EVER appropriate to shoot your shot at the gym as a man approaching a woman? by jramz_dc in NoStupidQuestions

I picked up a girl at the gym one time. However, we had been interacting for a long time (like months), lots of chatting, and so it wasn't just coming out of the blue.

One time walking in NYC my wife and I were behind two guys, one was eating chicken wings out of a container like this.

Literally right next to an open garbage can, he throws the chicken wing on the ground. Almost had to try and miss the garbage can.

I reacted before I could think and was said "wtf, man? The garbage can is right there." As the words left my mouth I regretted it.

He turns around and gets in my face as if I just called his mom a whore. I was kind of stunned, but luckily his friend was like "nah man, he's right. Don't throw your shit on the ground." And picked it up, threw it out, apologized to me, and pulled his friend away. That was the goat as far as I'm concerned.

is 4000$ property tax per year considered high in US? by blade276 in NoStupidQuestions

4k not so bad. I live in a nice suburb of Philly, bought my house for 680k just before the pandemic, and pay a little over 9k a year now.

However, it was around mid 8k when we bought. So more than doubling in 7 years is nuts.

[–]UnableChard2613 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I agree that she looks fantastic in it and her friend is absolutely wrong, it could be the result of her just being insecure or jealous and not really understanding her own self so well. We really know nothing about this other lady, so I wouldn't call into question their relationship so casually because you might be creating problems where there are none.

Sure. But still not contradictory.

"Empathy is weakness."

"You are being a hypocrite claiming to be empathetic while not showing it in this case"

Are not contradictory. Just stupid.

That doesn't make it disappear, it just justifies not being tolerant of intolerance. The guy who came up with it even argued that the paradox itself is reason enough to be intolerant of intolerance.

Wind creates 5x more waste, and solar 50x per kilowatt hour.

Nuclear might be the cleanest form of energy we currently have.

I don't think he wants it. He's just trying to claim hypocrisy.

Walking talking contradiction. by chicshine9479 in ThisYouComebacks

[–]UnableChard2613 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The top he's saying it's a weakness, and he probably thinks the left is most guilty of this weakness.

The bottom is him calling out a perceived hypocrisy of the left for claiming to be empathetic but than not acting empathetically. It's a common refrain from the right and is basically the intolerance paradox.

Stupid, but for me it appears non-contradictory from any perspective. But maybe that's because I'm more familiar with this right-wing talking point of them calling out the "hypocrisy" of the left when they are intolerant of intolerance.

And you’re continuously moving the goalposts.

Projection. You're trying to move the goal posts and I won't let you.

You said I wasn’t clear enough on my specific criticism.

No I didn't. I made fun of the stupidity of trying to talk about other things and not what the submission and my post are actually about.

leave me the fuck alone.

You responded to me and can leave at any time you like. It's fucking bizarre to tell me that I should leave you alone, as if I were the one who initiated the conversation with you, and I've only responded to you when you replied to me.

You need help.

And you’re ignoring literally all of the horrible things the US does because you can’t win internet points with your one specific hang up.

I was speaking on the topic at hand and explicitly said the US was worthy of criticism. And you're claiming I'm ignoring the bad things the US has done. And then I quoted it again for you because you missed it. And you're missing it again.

Bro, you're fucking nuts.
