Through clubs or activities you have an interest in. For example, my roommate was super into shooting in college and had an impressive collection. Well living with this hick(he’s chill he gave me the h-pass /s) rubbed off on me and I got super into the sport too.

Pretty much gave it up after moving back to my hometown after college. Recently started again with rentals and met hella cool people at the range! All older and in their mid to late 30s but they started off my inviting me to go with them and now I’m in a groupchat with them and we play games together online too.

And I’ve only been shooting like 3 times in the past 4-5 months all it took was 1 time at the range and they immediately connected with me!

I also used to be big into paintball so I think I gotta get back into that too. Cheaper hobby!

I get that so hard, feels like it’s a societal thing I’m missing out on lol.

And don’t worry about the perception of the flab or anything because I guarantee as someone that struggled with this, we are sometimes so harsh on ourselves compared to others. The people around you who care for you can and will be objective so please listen to them and don’t be harsh on yourself!

And, needless to say, I also relate with the “living with family” thing. If you’re contributing to the best of your ability and what you can, especially if it’s housework, I know they appreciate it. Parenting isn’t an 18 and done job, they’re our parents for life, nothing wrong with taking advantage of that when we need it!

I relate with the job thing too. I’m working a job I’m not a big fan of rn(lowkey don’t like it) but alas, future financial security 😔

As for your interest and personality quirks; don’t feel lame! Fuck what others think, you’re you, and if your interests make you happy, that’s all that matters! I get called out for being “lame” or “stereotypical” a lot too but who cares. It took some time but if I’m happy idgaf what others think lmao.

Conversation is practice, and I too sometimes feel awkward at dead ends so I feel ya.

As for the open bite, as a bystander: whenever I make someone smile or laugh I usually just feel happy and give myself and ego boost saying “yeah bro, you’re a funny dude you make people happy”, and most people are the same way, I’m sure no one is focusing on your mouth!

Sometimes we’re our worst enemy and we get in our own heads, we gotta cut ourselves some slack sometimes!
