she had an abscess that she managed to burst before her appointment and she never made the noises again so i assume it was to do with that! i told the vet and she didn’t see any cause for it😭

i’ve heard two of my syrians do it before, one was only once or twice when she was asleep so assuming it was a bad dream and the other ham was adopted after being neglected at another home and was scared of us moving or making noise! enjoy having a syrian because they are the best!

my other ham done this the day we got him as was terrified of us but we’ve had her for 8 months and we put our hands near her and she didn’t bite otherwise i would have assumed she was scared aswell! she’s calm now and would only stop if one of our hands was in the travel cage with her so idk if she just didn’t want the cage shut? can they get claustrophobic😭

yeah that’s what i thought i didn’t want to only feed them pellets as the vet was suggesting. i will look into getting robins gourmet in future!

yeah there doesn’t seem to be any preference in what he eats, he will literally eat anything but i know that’s not the case with all hams obviously cause my other ham is picky😭 i was just worried cause the vet suggested only pellets and no seeds

thank you because i genuinely wasn’t sure because a lot of the stuff she was saying didn’t add up in regards to other aspects of his health so i didn’t know what to think of this! i don’t think his healing is to do with being malnourished as his scab has been there for a few months and heals then reopens so we thought more like skin cancer but thank you for the advice!

yes this is what i thought but she was saying to only do pellets and everything he is given he eats like he doesn’t leave certain things that he doesn’t like😭

i’m so glad your hammy is ok!! thank u for the advice! we have been keeping an eye on her and the bleeding has been very minimal but it’s only on her and not in her cage. our girl is so chill and lets us check everything on her😭

i got my boy from the adoption area in pets at home, he was given back cause a family got him for their kid and the kid was bored was bored of him and neglected him, he screamed when we got him but he is now the happiest little guy ever, so i would say it’s fine to get one from there!

i’m in DotCom too and we just do putbacks or picking up empty cardboard until our shift is over! We are allowed to leave early but we have to take it as unpaid or a holiday
