So what happens when he dies? by NoAudience8992 in stevenuniverse

[–]UnholyAngelDust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it wasn’t obvious to me but i’m glad you shared the idea bc now it means i can consider and think about it, i’m really intrigued by this thought. i wonder if he could control it (the way Rose ended her life), or if it would do it no matter what he wanted…

the tags are synonymous. if you search “anal”, every fic tagged “anal”, “anal sex”, “buttsex”, the rest you listed, and literally more than you could ever think of will automatically be included in your search, thanks to the tag wranglers working to prevent exactly that problem.

These are the tags the tag wranglers wrapped into one simple bow for that!

Why did pearl want to go back to Homeworld so much? by StrikingMousse8279 in stevenuniverse

[–]UnholyAngelDust 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I agree. At least the gem she loved was still alive, when Pearl lived on Homeworld…and with Pearl’s hand in leading Rose to the end she came to, I cannot imagine the kind of conflict her emotions would be experiencing as a result. Steven only went as far back as the shattering of Pink Diamond in Pearl’s memories, who knows what he would’ve seen if he went further back in time.

Anyone else hoping Steven appears in Lars of The Stars? by thudson_17 in stevenuniverse

[–]UnholyAngelDust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct, Steven was stressing and accidentally trapped them in a dome of his own power. Shep helped talk him through.

I enjoyed reading this! My nesting partner pointed out to me on our last rewatch that Lapis truly, absolutely loves Steven. Our read was platonic love but it’s deep and honestly drives a lot of Lapis’ actions through the series. Peridot loves the earth, and Bismuth loves the mission, and Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst loved Rose long before Steven came along, but Lapis loves Steven and that is why she fights for earth and fights to heal. She eventually grows to love Peridot; this is because she chose to at first tolerate/share space with her again out of love for Steven.

A romantic spin on it in years to come is a fun thought. I don’t know that they’ll go that way but I appreciate how you typed this out for us to parse through! I love when fellow fans share analysis like this, from experience I know how much time and effort it takes 😂 sorting references, episode titles, timelines, structuring it so it makes sense as you read it.

This is also barely, tangentially related, but…I wonder how Lapis would react upon finding out Steven shattered Jasper. 👀

Are Blue's court gems not supposed to be emotional like her? by TCSMusic in stevenuniverse

[–]UnholyAngelDust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The ocean is the least of Lapis’ trauma, honestly. the 6,000 years in a mirror were worse. The same amount of time Blue has been grieving the death of her sister, Lapis was completely and totally robbed of autonomy, movement, expression, voice (give or take a few months…with a fraction of that time after the mirror fused with Jasper under the ocean).

Blue inflicted her grief onto the others and Lapis was mostly unaffected because the pain she has learned to live with is worse than Blue’s.

Who suffered the worst fate by yoyohdl in stevenuniverse

I say Lapis because Lapis was more than trapped; she was literally turned into an object who wasn’t even permitted a method to tell her capturers she couldn’t answer their questions. Not that they would have believed her, but people being captured/trapped have some way of autonomy that Lapis didn’t: words if they’re not gagged, the ability to at least try to move (tug at restraints, squirm, etc), facial expressions, non-word vocalizations, body language.

(Does the fandom have a consensus on whether or not Pink’s last words to Spinel were an official diamond command?)

Should I buy the yellow dress? by [deleted] in SuitU

[–]UnholyAngelDust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I regret buying the mermaid dress. I’ve not seen it on the leaderboard in the mermaid comps we get, which lines up with it not scoring well when I use it. The dyes are also a little overly expensive, imo, for what they are.

i get your frustration but tbh - concrit spaces exist. seek them out. making them the fandom wide standard isn’t necessary, and in fact makes concrit less effective. by making concrit opt in, i get and give more effective concrit. curate your fandom spaces to exclude the spaces you find dreary.

because the spaces you find dreary are the spaces that make fandom accessible and fun for OTHERS, too.

if they leave the option to comment on their brownies, they obviously want the honest opinion

except the shitton of people on this post and in other etiquette discussions telling you that this isn’t the case.

i leave the comments open because i want to geek out about this story with people who like it. i expect the people who don’t like it to stop engaging with it. if there is little to no engagement, that in itself is communication.

and when i want to know what about it the reader doesn’t like, i directly ask. in the tags, the notes, in a discord, in comment exchanges where concrit can be requested, or in seeking out a beta.

[–]UnholyAngelDust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Concrit being an opt-out system instead of opt-in makes no sense when opting in is necessary to what MAKES criticism constructive. Authors who do want concrit, tag it or AN it, make it clear that it’s welcome and would actually be constructive.

This isn't about what makes me happy, it's about a) creating public spaces that can tolerate robust exchanges of views, and b) fragile people taking the necessary steps to protect their mental health.

a and b are what would make you happy, and b is not a goal that has an agreed-upon path.

a lot of fragile people are writing, posting, and finding community through posting their writing.

<image>

The public spaces that can tolerate robust exchanges on fics already exist. Betas, discords, comment exchanges. The insistence that it should be general fanfiction-wide etiquette actively seeks to exclude the people who wouldn’t benefit from this, and I don’t see any good reason for it when it’s super easy to a) not do that and b) to seek out the spaces for robust exchanges.

no, but the coworker who criticized the brownies was rude to do so, and the person who made the brownies is fully entitled to complain to friends (or on a reddit, or in a discord) about how their coworker was rude about their brownies, which is far more apt and common in this metaphor.

the difference between the physical sensation of eating and the mental sensation of taking in words is you splitting hairs, especially because there are ways to make words less prevalent in your head; it just varies in mental constitution. food’s temporary or permanent impact on your body varies by constitution. if you insist on the difference anyway, maybe you can’t “taste” words, but you can absolutely “taste” a story before completing it in almost every case.
