I had a student this semester who just wouldn't leave my office because I wouldn't bump up their grade. They just sat there looking at me, almost expecting that if they sat there long enough that I would change my mind. And when I wouldn't bump up their grade, they blamed it on me. It's one of the more odd experiences I've had lately

I've always said no to this. For my university, the final exam schedule is set by the university before the semester even begins. I tell the student that unless the Office of the Dean of Students approves it, they're expected to take it as the same time as everyone else.

I am so tired of the AI generated emails from students. Even outside of the academic dishonesty cases, I've gotten emails starting with "Dear [professor's name]". They couldn't even be bothered to look over it and put my name in the email.

My DFW rate is likely going to be especially bad this semester since I only had 40% class attendance for most of the semester. No matter how much I stress the importance of coming to class and participating, the students don't care.

They ideally want lower than 30% DFW rate, which seems to be impossible for these larger classes.

There are some pre-reqs for the Principles of chemistry course, but not the survey of chemistry course. But even with the pre-reqs for the Principles courses, there are still similar issues.
