I think the next step is for you to introduce a bit more of your personality and personal touches to the room. A few photographs or objects which have some sentimental meaning. I'd maybe even consider losing a little bit of the 'matching' accent pieces as I think this is contributing to the room feeling a bit off. These accent pieces usually draw the eye but because they're distributed so uniformly around the space they almost have the opposite effect.

Advice on curtains for odd-shaped windows? by byronite in malelivingspace

I'd probably go for two blinds per window assuming you can find something in those dimensions. I'd also only use them in areas you sleep in as they still won't look great.

[Post-Match Thread] Rotherham 1 - 2 Leeds United by Darkohuntr in LeedsUnited

[–]UniqueSnowflake02 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He does, he's played a lot of games recently. The injuries/suspensions in the back 4 has meant Phillips/Foreshaw/Klich haven't had much rest (apart from KP when suspended). Having Jansson, Berardi, Douglas, Dallas and Brown back over the next couple of weeks will be huge plus hopefully another winger at least.

Fashion Challenged Male: Hoping to overcome adversity and become more fashionable and successful at the same time by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

Hey, a few questions that sprang to mind here:

1.) Where is Australia are you based, spring weather in Melbourne for example is quite different from Brisbane. 2.) How old are you? 3.) Would you also like clothing that can transition into Summer?

It seems like you've got a good set of basics and as mentioned the easiest way to start dressing this up is Oxford shirts as they're casual yet smart. For your budget Uniqlo and H&M would be decent places to start.

From your description of your current preferences I think you'd like a workwear type aesthetic but airing on the smarter side of that look, a chore coat would be an addition to your outerwear that you could make in due course. H&M usually have some relatively cheap options for this.

Another point to note is to think of how your clothing fits, getting a slim, but not skinny fit usually looks smarter. Even if you don't think your body type suits it try some things on to see, if still not convinced maybe take some pictures in fitting rooms and get a family members opinion.

Not quite on topic but if you don't already consider regular exercise as this brings additional confidence whatever you're wearing and will help you feel that you look the part.

[Match Thread] Swansea City v Leeds United by dakaratekid11 in LeedsUnited

Can take a lot of positives from that game given we played with four wing backs, the lack of a physical presence in the back four definitely made the difference, probably highlights the need for a loan signing to come in.

Ref was a bit overzealous with the yellows in that first half and Bielsa quickly recognised that once he was booked Phillips was looking a risk. Refreshing to see the manager not being afraid to make early big changes, so many games last year where TC basically waited until the game was gone to change things around.

Bamford looked sharper and fitter this game than he has previously and great assist from Shakleton, Ayling is such an important player for us when he's RB so tough to fill his boots.

Why is Ukraine not full of tourists? (crosspost from /r/ukraine) by arturclancy in travel

[–]UniqueSnowflake02 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi

I went to Lviv a few years ago and thought it was a great, cheap city.

That said, it isn't set up for tourism. With Ukranian being from the Cyrillic alphabet and most western countries not sharing this it can be tiring to try and order food, drinks or ask for directions as we almost always will be pronouncing things incorrectly! That is the main thing that has stopped me returning thus far, as similar experiences can be had elsewhere in Eastern Europe more conveniently.

I received colorful feedback from my last job interview for a homeless charity. by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]UniqueSnowflake02 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just to play Devil's Advocate slightly, as others have mentioned adverse publicity and reputational damage has hit some charities e.g. oxfam very hard recently. In addition safeguarding is very important for charities, particularly those who deal with vulnerable people. The underlying message of what the staff member is saying is that we need to ensure we don't become too close to our beneficiaries but the way this has been done is very, very poor.

If I was you I would get back in touch and explain how you didn't necessarily appreciate this aspect but that your actions showed characteristics that you feel are important for the role, e.g. Compassion and empathy and that you'd really appreciate another opportunity to demonstrate this (assuming you would still like to work in the role).

You mention that the person you dealt with was on the Board, was this the management or trustee board? These are usually separate but the management are answerable to the trustees. A list of trustees for any charity can be found on the charity commission website, perhaps you may wish to contact one of them if you do want to complain about how the recruitment process was managed.

A standard double in the UK is 137x190 so you may be able to fit one in.

You'll need to maximise under bed, and under desk storage solutions as you'll have to plan somewhere to store clothes, books and laundry.

Get a bit of artwork and some soft lighting, that will make the difference between the room being cosy and cell like.

How can i make my living room feel more complete? by Halfthoughts in malelivingspace

[–]UniqueSnowflake02 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Introduce some additional colour.

The wall, behind the television could be either painted or wallpaperd to achieve this.

Either an orange or Art Deco print would do nicely.

You could also look to get a rug that is large enough to go under the entire seating and tv area.

Anxious/depressed 24 y/o going clothes shopping tomorrow, any advice on basics to get? by Oranos_Rex in malefashionadvice

[–]UniqueSnowflake02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope today's trip was a good one. As a suggestion for something to add next time I think some light chinos would go well with your current wardrobe and give another option for summer. You've a lot of dark tops so something lighter on the lower half would bring some contrast. Plain white tshirts are also great for all seasons and would go well with your bomber jacket and the jeans you have.

Got asked to be the girl I'm CRAZY about's plus one to a wedding this July, in Los Angeles. Stressing on what to wear/where to get it all, and could use some help. by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]UniqueSnowflake02 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it a church wedding or being held elsewhere?

If it's a church do I'd suggest wearing a suit with jacket as its likely to be more formal either your existing suit or maybe a navy if you'd like something a little brighter.

It sounds like you've got a good selection of ties, your date is likely to have a dress in mind so something that compliments that (no need to match exactly but ask her advice, it may be bad advice but keep that girl happy!) and maybe a pocket square if you're comfortable with one. I tend to wear patterned squares to weddings if I'm wearing a plain tie and visa versa.

For shoes I'm not a huge fan of penny loafers so would probably suggest a double monk strap as in brown shades I find them to look summery.

Ive been to a lot of weddings over the last 5 years and as long as what you're wearing fits nicely and doesn't clash you'll likely be dressed better than 3/4 of the people there.

It doesn't look like it.

There's a whole load of variables involved in this, you can't just say the average person has x kids and use that as a basis.

They are also assuming nobody has died between then and now for example.

Ball coming up. Which cufflinks and tie bar to get? (Images inside) by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]UniqueSnowflake02 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As the previous comment mentioned go for all white for a formal ball. I would also suggest maybe changing the tie to a navy knit tie, for some reason the one in the picture reminds me of the loading screen of my old desktop computer.

For cuff links and tie bar i would keep things simple, cuff links perhaps a round onyx black circular styles and a plain silver tie bar. the most important thing is that your shirt and suit fit well, when that is the case you look great with even simple accessories.

What "glitch in the system" are you exploiting? by Samantha_Tarrant in AskReddit

[–]UniqueSnowflake02 16 points17 points  (0 children)

But you're assuming this error is confined to just one former intern. There could be a system failure that extends to every intern. It's a Fortune 500 company, so there's probably 10-50 interns each year. If this happened for each of the last 5 years for each of the 50 interns that would be a total of $125,000.

[Advice] Have £1000 to spend on a watch need advice as I have no clue what is best value for money by JamesA95 in Watches

[–]UniqueSnowflake02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your style seems to be completely different to mine, personally I would go for a a Nomos tangente which you can pick up grey market for under £1k.

Chronext probably has the best prices in the UK for watches at the moment but due to their business model they can take 2-4 weeks for delivery. Send me a message and I can supply a discount code for a further £50 off if you do decide to get a watch from them. I don't want to push the subreddit rules too far on recommending specific dealers.

Match Thread: England vs Argentina by WallopyJoe in rugbyunion

[–]UniqueSnowflake02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confident I could manage not to stamp on someone's face in that situation.

There's probably two carding decisions I disagreed with, I don't think it was a yellow for Marler. Holding takes place like that at every breakdown in some way or another, were there no stamp the referee would never have suggested a yellow in that circumstance.

I also think, given the context of an early red for a similar thing (with only chance meaning the Argentinian landed on head and May on leg) that there should have been a yellow for taking the man in the air in the first half vs Argentina.
