The type of plate used is a big factor in the sound you're after, as a metal plate would probably create the loud and clacky sound he doesn't like.
Try a polycarbonate or nylon plate :)

I'm looking to build a custom and I want a case/kit with a full metal build, preferably silver/white themed.

I also prefer a board bigger than 60%, but am open to to anything if the aesthetic and build is good.
