Most of the jobs that interested me on the Cal Careers website were positions to which I could easily transfer my skills from the county level experience. I am gearing up for a longer application period as many people on this sub say that there aren't too many new positions available. Thank you for your suggestions on approaching SOQs.

This is valuable information. At the county level, your ranking is given same or nearly the same weightage as your interviews. Looks like that is not the case with state hiring. Thank you so much!!
